Crystal River Gags & Reds...
I was fortunate to have Joe, Deanna and Rich on board today and also put them on their first groupers. The weather was perfect for grouper and we did well. The bite was a bit later today, but when it turned on it was good. We Caught grouper on every drop for almost and hour and turned some fine fish. The team brought in four fine gags and we stopped on the keys for three slot red fish on the way home. A great day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan
Team Sodium...
What a pleasure to have Casey on board today, the owner of Sodium fishing gear here in Crystal River and we had a ball. The days plan was to grab a couple gags and we did just that. Casey brought in a pair of heavy weight grouper and one was topping 18lbs. With two fine grouper on ice, we made a quick drift for some trout and caught a couple nice ones and we called it a day. A great morning and I thank you my man... Capt. Dan
Inshore Reds, Sheepshead and Grouper...
It wasn't chilly on the big pond today - it was "COLD". From fog, light drizzle and overcast skies, this was a cold one on the water. Joe and Joanne were with me again and we had a nice little mix. We trolled up some grouper and had some excellent red fish action on the afternoon incoming tide. The red fish were really the stars today as the action was excellent with close to twenty slot fish in just two stops. A great day and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan
Big Gags...
Wow!!! What a day offshore. Mishel and Earl were with me for day two for a Sunday fun day and the grouper were on. I truly believe this super moon has driven some really large grouper inshore, as we caught some in the 17lb to 20lb class today. They're not feeding all day, but if you know when and what stage of the tide to be on your favorite spot; it's pretty incredible. I thank you both for a fantastic couple days and here's Mr. Earl with a monster Gag... Capt. Dan
November Gags..
The weekend of the super moon and the big gags are definitely on the feed. Mishel, Earl and Jason were with me for the day and they turned some good ones. I covered some ground and when the seas calmed some, the grouper turned on. I always like a good chop on the water, but not to rough; for ideal grouper conditions. The team brought some beautiful fish home and here's Mishel with the big one of the day... Capt. Dan
Offshore Gags...
Glass calm conditions today for Rick, Larry and Mark and these gentlemen tackled some fine grouper. With the gulf being so nice, we made the long run West. I fished some areas I haven't been to in quite sometime and it definitely paid off. The team was able to turn some fine grouper and we released several shorts for the day. I thank you all for the great day and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
Reds and Grouper...
An absolute beautiful day out of Crystal River with Joe and Joanne and the red fish really got our day going. The tide was coming in nicely when I reached the outer keys and live shrimp on the rocky points gave us some great red fish action. We had a double digit day on one point and then we tried our luck for grouper. We moved around rock to rock catching several small grouper, but eventually a couple nice keeper gags came on board - plus one got eaten by a jewfish on the way in. A fun time with you both as always and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan
Crystal River Gags and Reds...
The wind backed off for us today and allowed the tide to come in for us this morning, and Pat and Laura Lou caught some red fish to start our day. The red fish were running tight in the mullet schools and the action was good. A live shrimp in the mullet action produced the reds and we caught a good bakers dozen of slot fish before we tried our luck for grouper. The grouper action was slow again, but we were able to pick up a pair of keepers before we called it a day. I thank you both for the fun time and here's one of today's gags from our trip... Capt. Dan
Trout Tuesday...
A great day inshore with the Coleman team and the shallow water trout cooperated nicely. Today's plan was to use DOA jerk baits on the shallow "yellow" hard bottom areas. We made a series of drifts and did well. The majority of the trout were keepers and by noon, we had fifteen on ice. The afternoon was a bit slow as we tried for grouper and the bottom low tide had them not in a feeding mood. We had a fun time as always and I thank you... Capt. Dan
Crystal River Gags...
A great grouper trip today with Shane and Doug and these guys usually inshore fish; so today they got a taste of grouper digging. For their trip, we kept it simple and targeted some ledges for the gags. The team trolled up close to twenty grouper with three making it to the cooler. Doug had big fish honors and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan
