Tarpon Update....
Hello everyone, well with this passing cold front on Wednesday and Thursday, it brought rain, very high winds and dropping temperatures. Unfortunately, all these conditions are a disaster for tarpon fishing. Fridays trip was pretty much a ghost town with very, very few fish being seen. Yesterday however, was a bit better as we saw a more fish and my good luck Tarpon charm Mishel sent one in the air. Stable weather is what's on the forecast and I believe this will be a much better week. Stay tuned and good fishing everyone... Capt. Dan
Awesome Snookin'....
The wind was howling close to 20knts for us today and a big weather change is on the way. The conditions weren't the best but, the snook bite was off the chain. I had Mike and Jason on board for the day and it was a truly special day. The father and son team had seventeen snook for the day and just about everywhere a snook should have been, there was one. We only used DOA glow jerk baits and lost a couple big fish as well. A day like today is special and I thank you both for an awesome Crystal River charter.... Capt. Dan
Homosassa Reds...
Day two with the Euart team in Homosassa and my crew today was on a red fishing mission. Pat, Lucy and Austin were my team and they did fantastic on the Homoosassa red fish. We basically jumped from rocky point to rocky point and free lined live pin fish with great success. The young anglers caught a fine limit of reds and I sure am proud of them. A beautiful day and here's myself and my team with one of today's beauty's... Capt. Dan
Homosassa Offshore Jigging...
What a nice mix of species today our of Homosassa and Casey and Avery were my guests. I kept it simple today and we headed West to 10ft of water and made some long drifts. The rods were loaded with MirrOlure Lil' Johns and they kept us busy. I really enjoy this type of fishing as it's pretty steady action and every cast is a surprise. I thank you both for a great one and here's Avery with her first trout.... Capt. Dan
Tarpon on Fly...
A great past couple of days with Bob and Arno on board. The wind however was against us and it basically only gave us a couple hours of prime fly fishing time. The rest of the day was spent, "hoping the wind would lay down". However, we made the best of it and capitalized on a couple tarpon hook ups and bringing one to the boat - with a broken rod non the less. I thank you both for everything and I look forward to next year.... Capt. Dan
Crystal River Tripletail and Cobia...
A great day with Cheryl and Megan and the mother and daughter team had a blast. We started the day running and gunning for triple tail and eventually, we found a weed line that had some fish. The team used a combination of live shrimp and glow DOA jerk baits for the triple tail. I looked for tarpon, but no fish to be seen; but a bruiser cobia came by the boat and Megan did a great job bringing it home. A fine day on the water and I thank you both.... Capt. Dan
Family Day...
Just a fun couple hours with the family today and put a little more time with the new engine on the Silver King. Becky, myself and our new puppy Yukon, spent a couple hours and running around and we found a fine cobia. I sight fished it with a DOA bait buster, took a few pictures and released her. Always a fun time and Yukon had his first boat ride... Capt. Dan
Team Sugarmill Woods...
The gang was back on board today with Mel, Bill and Jerry and it's always a great time. I ran back offshore again for the good trout action and we did well. It was a bit slower than the last two days, but still pretty steady with a mixed bag. Jigging MirrOlure Lil' Johns once again was the deal. We also anchored on a small rock for some great sea bass action, plus releasing the usual grouper too. To end the day Mel brought in s whopper 35" snook and Bill a fine upper-slot redfish. A wonderful time with you all and I thank you... Capt. Dan
Crystal River Mix...
The Novinger team with me today and we had a ball. We made the run to 10ft of water and some awesome action. Trout, sea bass, gags, lady fish etc... kept us busy. Watermelon provoker MirrOlure's were the flavor of the day on 1/8th oz jig heads. We secured a solid catch offshore and finished up the afternoon with a fine snook and upper-slot red fish. I thank you all for the great time and look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
Trouty in Homosassa...
The Scott party was on board for day two today and the guys had a great one. I spent the day offshore in 10ft of water and we loaded up on the trout. The action was absolutely perfect and sometimes during the drift, we had three on at a time. Watermelon red/flake Lil johns were the flavor of the day and I thank you all for two great days.... Capt.
