Beautiful Day Grouper...

What a beautiful day today. Marilyn and David were my guests and they definitely had a memorable day both weather wise and fishing. We ran down south a bit and had a good day with reaching a grouper limit in just over an hour of fishing. Live pin fish was the ticket and we even released a few other good ones. As I write this, we have a pretty strong cold front approaching with lows in the 30's and gusty winds for the first couple days of next week. Forecast doesn't look to good, but hopefully by the end of the week well be able to get back out. Stay tuned and I'll see you on the water soon as possible... Capt. Dan

Pre- Thanksgiving Grouper...

Always a fun time with Bob and Nancy in town and we had a great day down South grouper digging. A beautiful day, but the sea's were a bit bumpy in the morning. We loaded up on bait and really had non stop action all day. Lots and I mean lots, of under sized grouper; but we found enough keepers to secure a grouper dinner. I thank you both as always and I'll see you next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Big Grouper...

Some big ones today offshore Crystal River with Ross and Mindy on board from Minnesota. On today's trip we pushed offshore to 25ft and found some really nice fish in the 20lb range. We sent down the pinfish and it was on. We had a fine limit, released a few others and had a really nice day. I thank you both and look forward to next year... Capt. Dan

40 Degree Gags...

40 degrees running out the river this morning and it was a chilly ride. Chase, Rob and Bob were my team and we bundled up and headed offshore. Chase just opened a new Tavern in downtown Crystal River called St. John's Tavern and it's definitely a place you want to stop in and check out. Anyway, we set up in about 17ft of water and had a good morning grouper fishing. On three stops, we secured a six fish limit and called it a day. You all did terrific and awesome job... Capt. Dan

Pre-Front Grouper...

The Surber family was my team today and we stayed in close with the approaching cold front on the way. I loaded the live well with pinfish and we stayed in the 13ft range. The bite was great on the first spot, the next two were cold and the fourth - "wham" , we were done! The winds were picking up round noon and we headed to the hill. A great day and I thank you all... Crystal River Whoppers....

They gags got even bigger today and the Campese team turned some giants. I took the team on this beautiful day out to 30ft of water and the bite was fantastic. We dropped some live baits for a couple gags over 20lbs and several over 10lbs. It was absolutely non stop for an hour or so and you all did terrific. Awesome catch and congratulations... Capt. Dan

More Big Ones....

I've always said the Thanksgiving time frame produces some big grouper and it sure is standing true. Joe and Joanne were my team today and they delivered on some great gags. We jumped around trying a couple new spots I've found recently and they are there. Live pin fish were our baits and you both did a terrific job... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Quality Gags...

Some real big ones today with the Vega party and they did outstanding. I took them to a ledge I fished on Monday and the fish were still there. We sent down the pinfish and "wham" it was on. In really no time, we had a beautiful limit of grouper and most of the fish were double digits. Great job and I thank you... Capt. Dan

Casting Plugs...

A really fun but chilly day with Eddie and Chris as we went down South and found some gags. I took the guys mostly casting Rapala f18 plugs on the shallow rocks and we did pretty well. The water is still a bit churned up, but clear enough to see the rocks. The guys both turned some good ones and blue mackerel was the color of the day... Capt. Dan
