Good to be Out....

Finally a break in the weather and it sure was good to get back out. I've had to cancel all the trips since Thursday as we've had close to 7" of rain here at our house. I did fish Wednesday with the Lent party and we were doing great with the snapper and sheepshead on a little ledge I have, but soon enough got chased it by the weather. So for today with a good forecast the Binns guys were ready to go. I pushed offshore to about 20ft of water and was greeted to very dirty water from the rain and a gumbo algae bloom. YUK.... it made bait fishing very difficult, but we pushed through and caught a couple nice grouper. I'm hoping to go south tomorrow to see if the water condition's improve and I thank you all for the fun time today... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Rock Hopping...

Some shallow rock hopping today with Jerry and Jacob and these guys from out of town had a blast. We did a combination of grouper fishing and bending the rod on the rocks with live shrimp. The action was pretty steady for most of the day with grouper, snapper, flounder, grunts, lady fish and a decent cobia. The wind wasn't quite as bad today, but still a "bouncy" ride heading West. You all did great and hope to see you next time you're in town... Capt. Dan

West Wind Gags..

We just can't seem to get a break from this West wind we had lately. It's been making it very difficult to get offshore and even tougher setting up on your grouper locations; as the tide and wind have been going against each other. However, we took a beat of a beating today and the Gaz team hung in there and did well. We eased offshore far as I safely could and we set up on a couple little ledges. We dropped down some pin fish and turned five nice keeper gags to save the day. You all did great and I thank you... Capt. Dan

Stormy Gags...

We had the storms all around us today and luckily, we were able to get the day in. Lauren, Dan and Big fish Bob were my team today and we had to stay close for our gags. I basically just jumped from ledge to ledge catching fish here and there and a couple cobia too. Live pinfish and pigfish were our baits and the guys all contributed with some nice keepers and a couple got the best of us as well. I always enjoy you fellas on board and can't wait until next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Gags...

A great start to the week and a really good first charter back from vacation. Stu and Tess were the team today and this father and daughter team did terrific. I had a couple thunder storms to contend with, so I stayed close and dropped pin fish down on some ledges. Well, the bite was excellent as we actually limited out by 9:30am and Stu even tackled a huge jewfish that ate one of our grouper. They did a terrific job and we called it a day - but we did get soaked on the way home. I thank you both.... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A great day to wrap up my month of June with Joe on board for an awesome mixed bag. Joe and I covered some ground today as we began tackling a fine limit of gags and a whopper cobia. Dropping down live pin fish got it done for us and really caught a lot of gags in the 23" range. We added a couple trout and to top off the day, we were blessed and boated a beautiful tarpon just under the hundred pound mark. What a day and great job Joe. As I write this I'm backing my bags and headed to Wyoming Monday morning. I'll be there the entire month of July and I'll do my best to post some updates and fishing reports. All the best and see you all soon.... Capt. Dan

Good Weather Gags...

A terrific day both weather wise and the bite was pretty good for Paul and Cindy today. The husband and wife team met me at the Plantation on Crystal River and we headed West. I loaded the live wells with pin fish and set up on a couple shallow rocks and ledges. The action was pretty good on the morning incoming tide and the team knocked down three real nice keepers in no time. It took a little bit to get the fourth fish, but we got'em and the day was a success. I thank you both for the great day and congratulations on a fine catch... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Gags....

A solid day grouper digging with Dean and Jim and the guys did great. I made a run out to 22ft of water and the gags were there. Live pin fish on bottom rigs were the deal and we even caught a whopper of a nurse shark as well. A couple grunts and snapper were added to the cooler and the heat eventually made us call it a day. Thank you both and great job... Capt. Dan

Today was Jim's last day and we finished up his couple of days, tackling some grouper. Him and I ran offshore a bit to around 15ft of water and dropped down on a little ledge for some gags. The action started right away and we turned some good ones. Live pin fish and pig fish were the ticket and grouper on the grill was what's for dinner. The last week has been great from snook, red fish, tarpon and grouper; we covered a lot of ground and fished in some really tough condition's. I thank you buddy and Jim, myself and our wives will be in Wyoming for the month of July enjoying the trout streams... Capt. Dan

Grouper w/ the Mayor....

Finally the weather has changed and it was good to get back out. On today's trip I had the pleasure of having Crystal River's Mayor, Joe Meek on board and his family. He's been wanting to fish with me for such a long time and I had a opening and they were ready to go. I took the guys shallow water grouper digging and they loved it. We fished some small ledges and sent down the pin fish. The team totaled over 20 gags with a couple real nice keepers for their trip. I thank you all and you did a great job on the fish... Capt. Dan
