One of those special days on the big pond with my great clients Mishel and Earl and the bite was on. I trolled some offshore rock piles in the 22ft range and with Rapala x-rap 20's, the grouper were thumping. Bunker was the hot ticket and the couple brought in a limit of grouper in short order. I did a little exploring and we caught and released several grouper over 10lbs while finding some new "goodies". On the way home, I drove over the massive school of black drum I saw the other day and I called my great friend Capt. Clay Shidler over and we had a ball. All our clients hooked up and we had a couple hours of non stop action. An incredible day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Gags...

A really fun day with Bill and Butch on board and we found some fine shallow water grouper. I fishing the 12ft to 15ft range and with a combination of bottom fishing and trolling; the team caught their limit. The weather was absolutely perfect and almost to nice for the afternoon hours as it was slick calm. Live pin fish and frozen thread fin herring were the baits for the bottom fishing; while Rapala x-rap 20's did the trick for the trolling. A fun time and I hope to see you both in the future soon... Reds & Gags...

A fun day with Mike, Scott and Steve on board and we did a little inshore and offshore fishing. The red fish bite kicked off our day and it was pretty good. We jumped around on the outside points and found a handful of keepers and several shorts to start or day. Free lined live shrimp in the mullet schools were the baits of the day for the red fish and they worked just great. The next stop was grouper land. I ran to some of my north numbers and we caught a couple, but it was slow compared to what it should have been right now. The team caught some trolling and bottom fishing - however I hope we get a cold front soon to really turn them on. I thank you all for the fun time and here's Mike with one of today's red fish to start the day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inside & Out...

What a perfect day with the Steele team out of the Plantation on Crystal River and we had a awesome day. Today's trip began targeting red fish on the outer keys, and we caught several reds to get the day going. We boated close to twenty with a couple keepers before we made our run offshore. The sea's were absolutely perfect and I made the trek to 28ft of water. The grouper were feeding well and in just a couple drops, we had our six keepers. We made our way back inshore and I crossed a "GIANT" school of black drum. There was close to a thousand fish and truthfully, maybe more. I made a quick cast with a jig and we hooked up to a 30lb monster to give Andy a great tug of war. We landed the fish, added a couple trout to the mix and what a great day in the books. I thank you all for the fun time and look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Wow!!! Another great day with Bill and Hazel on board and we had an awesome day. The trip began targeting red fish and the bite was on. We made two stops and caught over twenty red fish. Most were under slot, but a couple were mid slot fish and all were released. The weather was absolutely perfect, so for our next species, we made a run to grouper land and trolled up a limit of fine keeper sized gags on Rapala CD 14's. The grass wasn't bad today and trolling was a breeze. To top off the day, we caught and released several trout off the bars with DOA deadly combos and we called it a day. I thank you both for two great days and I always enjoy fishing with you both... Capt. Dan

Halloween Gags...

The grouper were on the feed this morning on the outgoing tide and today's team did great. Bobby and Fred were my guests today and trolling gags was the name of the game. It seems the grass is bad one day and very fish-able the next. Well today, is was fish-able and very productive. In just a couple hours, the guys caught four beautiful grouper on Rapala CD 14 trolling plugs. We added a couple trout to the mix, but the inshore scene was a little slow; and wrapped up the day. A fun time and I look forward to fishing with you all again soon... Capt. Dan

Full Moon Gags...

Definitely not the hot bite like yesterdays trip, but we hung in there and found a couple gags. I think I was cursed with the full moon blues today and it was a VERY slow start for the day. I had the Dulane family on board and we jumped around a lot and worked for the bites we had. We caught several short grouper and finally at the end of the day, a couple good ones got happy. We worked for them, but I thank you all for your patience and hanging in there. I look forward to next time and enjoy the grouper dinners... Capt. Dan

Offshore Crystal River...

A really nice day offshore Crystal River with Shane and Bart on board and in two stops; they had a great catch. I made a run to the South today in the 28ft range and did some bottom fishing. It was two grassy to troll, so bottom fishing was going to be the plan. The grouper were slamming both live and dead baits and in a short time, the team had their four gags. i changed over to live shrimp on knocker rigs and we began catching a nice variety. Mangrove snapper, hog fish, grunts and Spanish mackerel kept us busy for the afternoon and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan

We had a couple hours of decent weather for the morning hours, but it hit 2nd gear and got rough. The wind unfortunately cut the grouper fishing short for us today, but not before the Dulane family caught some nice grouper. I was trolling once again and the floating grass made it quite frustrating. Yesterday, there really wasn't an issue with it; but today it was challenging. We fought through it though and this fun family did well. Plenty of grouper dinner for them and I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Gags...

Day two for the Homosassa Fishing Clubs annual Jamboree and I has the pleasure of having the Stribling team on board. Grouper is what they wanted to target, so I made a run up North to some shallow ledges and trolled up a fantastic catch. We had to be back at the Club island for shore lunch just after noon; so it was a bit of a gamble. The grouper bite was excellent trolling Rapala CD 14's and we put the sixth fish in the box at 11am. A great couple days and a fun time with you all the for the annual Jamboree... Capt. Dan
