A fun 1/2 day charter out of the Plantation on Crystal River with Joe and Amanda and we tackled some grouper. I met the couple at 8am and we headed West. I ran to some of my shallow ledges and did quite well. Some good grouper action on live pin fish and we had a couple break us off that were some "good ones". Some grunts and other goodies were added to the day and I thank you both for the fun day... Capt. Dan

Offshore...

Probably the nicest day of the grouper season so far to go offshore and Mike and Pat hit it out of the park. This was a fun trip I've been promising these guys and it worked out beautifully. Calm seas and a smooth ride out to the 20ft range. We sent down the live pin fish and it was on. Hefty gags, a keeper red grouper and a bonus hog fish was our catch. The day couldn't have been any better and I thank you both for the great day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

What a great day out of the Plantation on Crystal River with Jeff and Ryon and we had a ball. Once again, running offshore was the plan and we fished the 15ft range today and had some great action. The grouper bite was excellent on live baits and the team quickly caught their limit of gags. To fill out the rest of the day, we sent down live shrimp around the rock piles for a little variety. Numerous grunts, mangrove snapper and flounder filled out the day. A beautiful day and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Gags...

Another beautiful day offshore Crystal River today, but we unfortunately got rained out yesterday. Rick and Lisa were my guests for the day and we were in grouper digging mode. I made the run to a couple of my favorite ledges and sent down the pin fish. The action was steady and we caught a fine limit of gags. We picked up a couple of mangrove snapper and grunts as well and it was just a great day to be on the water. I thank you both for the fun day and I hope to see you in the future... Capt. Dan

Grouper Land...

Finally... Today was the day to go offshore and with almost a week of unfavorable conditions; I don't know who was more excited my clients or me. I had Clell and Bob on board for the day and it was awesome. We made the run to 25ft of water and in 15 minutes the team had their limit of beautiful Crystal River gags. Our next stop, I ran a quick mile to some live bottom and with live shrimp on knocker rigs; the guys had non stop action with mangrove snapper, more grouper and a bonus hog fish. It felt great to have the weather to go offshore and I can only hope it holds for the coming weeks.... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Offshore...

A nice relaxing holiday weekend off, but back to work today with the Athens family and we did some grouper digging. I picked up the family at their waterfront home on the Homosassa river and we made our way offshore. The action was good today as we picked up keeper gags on a couple different rock piles ranging from 12ft to 23ft. Cut threadfin herring was once again the top producing bait for us. The team also added some fine tasting grunts and mangrove snapper to the mix to top off their Homosassa charter. A great time with you all, as always and I thoroughly enjoy my days with you... Capt. Dan.   On a side note, I leave for my annual fly fishing trip to Wyoming Wednesday and will return the end of July. I'll be posting updates from out West and hopefully some beautiful trout pictures. I'll see you all soon!!!

Late Bite Gags...

The cobia were sure happy today, but it sure took a while for the grouper to turn on. Today's Crystal River charter I had Mike and Kathy on board for some grouper digging. The team and I fished some of the shallow ledges towards the North today and it was "DEAD". Only one short gag, but a real hefty cobia came aboard to get the day going. After nine different stops, we made a long run south and got on the grouper. We finished off our hard earned limit of gags and had some fine quality fish to show for it. I thank you both and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Grouper season opener...

We were rained out for yesterday's grouper season opener, but today was awesome. I had Casey and Brandon on board from the Sodium store in Crystal River and we made the run West. I tried a couple shallow stops in the 10ft range, but only one short to show for our efforts. So, we hammered down to 25ft of water and in one stop, we had our limit. The guys put a beautiful limit of gag grouper in the box and we headed back to the dock. A combination of cut threadfin herring and live pin fish were the baits of the day. Thank you both again and let's do it again soon... Capt. Dan

Tarpon, Gags & Cobia...

An amazing last three days with my cousin Rich on board. Rich was here for has annual tarpon June trip and we did outstanding. We jumped 17 tarpon over the last couple of days and boated four. Most of the fish were deep, so we used DOA bait busters for the majority of our days. Tides played a big role on when the tarpon turned on, but when they did; it was great. Rich also caught his first cobia and also caught and released a couple gag grouper. A very memorable trip and I always look forward to next year... Capt. Dan

On the Rocks Day two...

Day two for us at the Homosassa Fishing Club with the Conklin party and my team today did great again. We ran to the shallow rocks and went jumping rock to rock, catching an assortment of species. The conditions were identical as yesterday and it was definitely bumpy out there for the morning hours. We used live shrimp on Hank Brown jig heads and it was just a fun day of fishing. I thank you all for two great days and I look forward to having you all on board again soon... Capt. Dan
