More Fog and good Mix...

More fun offshore and pretty much the same conditions as yesterday. A dense sea fog was brutal for the ride offshore and it was slow going. However, we reached or spot and the rods stayed bent. All the offshore species kept us busy and a lot of hog fish today. Most were under sized, but a couple keepers made their way home. A great ride home as the fog cleared and I thank you all... Capt. South Grouper....

Good to be back out on the big pond and Chuck and Tim were my guests today. I had hopes on making today a mangrove snapper trip, but it turned in to some good grouper and a couple hogfish day. We did catch some mango's, but they were on the short side. The gags hit the pin fish on bottom rigs and we caught 5 hog fish with one making it to the keeper size. A good trip and I thank you both.... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Offshore....

Another sheet of glass kind of day offshore and John, Bill and Wayne had a great trip. We pushed on out and sent down our shrimp. Lots of awesome action with snapper, hog fish, grouper, grunts and sheepshead. The snapper bite was a little bit slower than yesterday, but the sheepshead were really wound up. Some schools of bonito were on the surface and a few bait fish schools. Spring is trying to make it's way. Great job guys and I thank you.... Capt. Dan

Offshore Fun....

Another terrific day offshore with Mark and Tono on board and they did fantastic. I pushed on out to 40ft of water again and it was really good. A mixed bag of all the goodies and we stayed busy all day. Some real quality snapper was the big highlight of the day and I thank you both.... Capt. Dan

Offshore Mix...

What a beautiful day to go offshore and on this trip we pushed on out to just about 40 feet of water. Curt, Mark and Josh were my guys and they definitely stayed busy. Lots of action with snapper, grunts, hog fish and sheepsheaed filled out their day. I bet we caught over 20 hog fish, but only two keepers over the new 14" regulation mark. Great job guys and I thank you.... Capt. Dan

Choppy Grouper...

I hope everyone's Christmas was great as mine was and today, I was back on the big pond.... A bit choppy out there for us today when the wind swapped out of the NE, but the bite was on. On today's trip Larry, Dean and Jim joined me for their last trip of the 2017 grouper season and we did well. I ran offshore a bit to just under 30ft and sent down the baits. The team was ready and in a matter of minutes, we had 6 beautiful grouper on ice. I was actually shocked on how awesome the bite was and we also added a couple bonus hog fish to the mix as well. A really fun day and I'll see you guys after the first of the year... Capt. Dan

Round Two....

Round two with Dan, Lauren and Gary and the guys had quite the day for their last rip of the 2017 grouper season with me. We pushed through the fog again and headed offshore. The first drops were very good and had some fine keepers right away. I had to moved around a bit for the last two, but soon enough we found them. After a gags limit, we spent the afternoon catching a couple hog fish and releasing a few more grouper to wrap up the day. I thank you all for the fun trips we've had and I look forward to our upcoming 2018 year... Capt. Dan

"WOW"...

All I can say is "WOW"... What a day offshore with Jay, Harley and Gerald. The guys met me at the Plantation on Crystal River and we headed West. I stayed just inside the 30ft range, after riding through the foggy conditions; dropping down on some real nice bottom. We had some fine grouper action and on 3 stops, 6 gags made their way on ice. Now though, for the big surprise.... I set up on another little patch of live bottom and the hog fish bite was unreal. The team had 14 keeper hog fish on hook and line, with little grunt activity and I was truly in awe on the action. A day to remember and congratulations guys on the fantastic catch... Capt. Dan

Offshore Gags & Hogfish...

The last of the long stretch of great weather we've had and Shane and Doug were on board to experience it. A major cold front will be coming in a couple day and things are about to change. For today though, we went offshore a bit to 28ft of water and had a really good trip. The gags were feeding on the tide change and the hog fish too. The hog fish bite was exceptional on live shrimp, with 16 being caught on hook and line. It was also Shane's birth day and he had a great one. Thank you guys and we'll do it again next year... Capt. Dan

Flat Calm Offshore...

Not a ripple on the big pond today and it was like a sheet of glass offshore. Joe and Joanne were with me for the day and this was the calm before the front. We have another cool front coming through tomorrow and the winds are going to pick up a bit. I took the team to the 30ft range and we had an awesome Crystal River charter. They each turned a fine pair of gags; then we sent down some shrimp and caught 7 hog fish for the day. The day to be offshore and great catch to the both of you... Capt. Dan
