Day two today at the Homosassa Fishing Club and we had a morning of fishing and shore lunch on order. It was a little breezy out of the west on this Saturday and the tide was rushing in hard. The trout bite wasn't exceptional, but we caught a few keepers and a nice red fish before our 11:30am departure; to prepare a great shore lunch. Our meal was great and having a little bit of fishing time left in the afternoon, all the boats picked up a few more trout to end the day. Thanks to the entire group for a fun couple of days and here's my crew with a few of today's fish... Capt. Dan

A fun 1/2 day charter today out of Crystal River and I had the Damron family on board for some trout and red fish action. Leaving from Pete's Pier Marina at 8am, we ran out the Salt River and picked up a couple  trout to start our charter. The tide was rushing in extremely fast, so we decided to leave the trout and try our luck at a couple red fish points. The red fish were there and in just a couple stops we had some quality red fish in the cooler. With enough fish for the family dinner, we finished off our trip with a great lunch at Cracker's Bar and Grill and called it a day. Thank you all for the fun time and here's Caroline with her first Crystal River red fish... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mixed Bag...

Great trout action today on the DOA deadly combo rigs out of Crystal River and Mike and Tom had a really good catch. I met the guys at Pete's Pier Marina at 8am and we ran a ways south and set up our drifts in the 4ft to 6ft depth range. The bite was steady on the out going tide, but when the tide turned for the afternoon incoming, it was quite slow for us. Before we called it a day, we hit a couple points for red fish and only found one lonely keeper to end out trip. Thanks guys for the fun time and congratulations on the fine catch... Capt. Dan

It was another NE windy day out of Crystal River, but it didn't slow Heath, Dixie, Jason and Barry down on catching some great Crystal River trout and red fish. I met the gang at 8am at Pete's Pier marina and we spent the morning targeting our most popular inshore species - speckled trout. The trout bite was great and we covered some ground from the oyster bars off Crystal River, to the spotty bottom areas of St. Martins Keys. I'm sure you're tired of hearing this, but once again the ever reliable DOA deadly combo/MirrOlure Lil' John combinations did the trick on the trout. With seventeen keeper trout in the cooler, we spent the last of the incoming tide hooking into six beautiful back county red fish. An absolute fantastic day and I thank you all for the great time.,, Capt. Dan

A very pleasant change in the weather from yesterday's rain event and I had the pleasure of having Bill, Blake, John and Kyle on board for a fun day out of Homosassa. With almost flat calm conditions, we ran a little ways offshore until we reached the 6ft depth range and set up our drift. All the rods were rigged with DOA deadly combo rigs and MirrOLure Lil' Johns and the trout bite was very good. Nine keepers made their way in to the cooler on the first drift and numerous lady fish, sea bass and even a just under keeper sized gag grouper, made for some fantastic action. We kept on the trout until about noon, and then hit the points to find some red fish. Pulling up to a rocky point with plenty of mullet activity, we free lined some live shrimp and the crew caught 10 beautiful Homosassa reds. We called it a day around 2pm and I thank you for the wonderful time. Here's the guys with today's great catch... Capt. Dan

We got a jump on the outgoing tide this morning leaving from Pete's Pier Marina just after 7am, and Gene and Linda had a great morning. With just enough water to spend an hour red fishing, we ran back in the Salt River, free lined some live shrimp and hooked up with some lower slot red fish. The mullet activity was very good on the rocky points and if you've been reading my reports, you know that's an excellent indication there's red fish nearby. Catching our three keeper red fish, a couple speckled trout and a silver, our 1/2 day charter was a success. Thank you both for the great morning and look forward to seeing you soon... Capt. Dan

An exceptionally great day at the Homosassa Fishing Club with the Glenn party and myself and fellow Homosassa Guides Association Captains Mark Zorn and Rick Spratt had a fantastic day. I had Lewis, Ed and Lewis Jr. on board for our full day trip and we spent the morning catching a few trout, noon shore lunch and afternoon red fishing. The trout bite wasn't on fire, but we did put 7 keepers in the cooler and a few sea bass before we ran to the island for lunch. Our lunch was very good today with Capt. Spratt doing an extra special grilling of some trout and pompano to top off our meal. We pulled away from the island dock around 2pm, ran to one of my favorite red fish locations and it was fish on! In just a matter of minutes we had four beautiful red fish in the cooler, released a couple others and kept one more due to swallowing the hook. I can't thank you all enough for such a great time and you all are a fun crew to have on board. Here's Lewis, Ed and Lewis Jr, with their afternoon red fish catch... Capt. Dan

Riverhaven Trout & Reds...

I had my great annual clients Donna and Toney on board and they brought along their good friend Chris, for a full day out of Homosassa. I picked up the gang at their beautiful home in Riverhaven and we spent the morning catching a few trout, while we waited for the tide to come in and red fish. We have caught several trout in the past, but never any red fish due to the tide conditions. I assured Toney today was a different day. With a 3.5 high tide around noon, it was perfect conditions to locate some red fish. The simple technique of free lining live shrimp in the mullet schools worked well for us today, and we boated 9 beautiful Homosassa red fish. A light breeze on the water and ideal condtions, it was a great day to be on the water. Thank you all for the great time and here's the crew with their fine catch... Capt. Dan

The bite was on! Wow, what a day out of the Homosassa Fishing Club and myself and fellow Homosassa Guides Association Captains Mark Zorn, William Toney, Rick Spratt, Charlie Harris and Fred Lyles had an outstanding day. Trout limits across the board and several nice catches of red fish; it was a trip the West party will not soon forget. I had John, Phil and Tom on board and my crew did great with their 20 fish trout limit and a couple over slot and slot red fish. DOA deadly combos did the job on the trout and free lined live shrimp for the red fish, I can't thank you all enough for a great day. Here's me crew with their great catch... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Flood Tide....

It was day three for Mishel and Earl to join me for another full day charter and today we launched out of Homosassa. Leaving the river and arriving at the mouth to breezy south winds, I knew today we would have plenty of water to red fish. The tide was just turning at roughly 9am, so we killed a little time and caught a few Homosssa trout. We made a long drift off St. Martins Keys and the trout were there in good numbers. DOA cal shad tail and MirrOlure Lil' John did the trick and it was great action until it was red fish time. The tide was getting pushed in pretty hard by the wind and by noon, the winds were out of the west and here came the water. We were jumping point to point free lining live shrimp and cut ladyfish, but all we could come up with in one lonely red fish for the afternoon. We gave it our best and we sure covered a lot of ground today. Thank you both for a great time and here's Mishel with her Homosassa red... Capt. Dan
