Fighting the Wind..

It was blowing today folks. I had the pleasure of having the Bennett team on board and we had good time despite the wind. I made a long run south today towards "Chazz" and we used DOA glow jerk baits to tackle our trout. The fish were keying in on the kelp grass patches and we caught only 2 short trout in a couple drifts. The tide wasn't quite right for red fishing, as it's getting later and later each day; but we made a stop and Shane had a nice slot fish to round up the trip. Thank you guys for putting up with the conditions and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

The Big 3....

What a day to end Phil's last of four days of great fishing, by topping it off with the big three. Phil had quite the day catching a limit of red fish, trout and grouper. I used the tides to plan out the day and we targeted the red fish on the beginning of the incoming tide and then; headed west for the grouper. I stopped on a couple rock piles and we turned two really nice gags in short order. Two of them got the best of us breaking 100lb test line and I sure would of liked to seen them. The tide turned around 1pm and Phil and I jigged up a fine limit of trout on MirrOlure Lil' Johns to end the day. I thank you and the team for four great days of fishing and I look forward to a couple months from now... Capt. Dan

Hot Gags...

What a day!!! Well, the seas where choppy and it was a rough ride, but the guys were game and the gag bite was on. Joe, Chris and Phil were with me for day two and it was another great one. The gang brought their big guns and were ready to tackle some gags. We set up on a couple rocks and they did outstanding. Some fine gags came on board and Joe had the hot rod. The guys also had a fine catch of red fish, a couple trout and once again, I thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Reds & Gags...

I always look forward to "Uncle" Phil's team coming down every year from Philadelphia and on this trip Phil, Chis and Joe did great. This was day one of a four day adventure and they had an awesome time turning some fine gags and catching some skinny water red fish. The grouper action seems to finally be getting better and live baits did the trick for us today. We locked down the drags and it was a good couple hours of grouper action. The red fish bite was equally good and it sure was a fun first day. Great job fellas... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix..

Another fun day trip with Pat, Chase and Bob for a little Crystal River mix. The guys jumped right in and a fine limit of red fish started our day. Live shrimp in the mullet schools started our trip on the reds and next up, we drifted the flats and had a fine catch of trout. DOA deadly combo cork rigs with MirrOlure Lil Johns were the tackle for the trout and bourbon was the color of the day. To top of our trip I made a quick stop on a shallow rock pile in 9ft of water and Bob turned a hefty gag to finish the day. We wrapped it up just after noon and I thank you all for the fun time... Good Mix...

We covered some ground today with Ted, Brad and Curtis on board and the guys had a good one. The outgoing tide red fish bite started the day and we had a double digit morning. Most were little Cobb reds, but a couple keepers bent the rod and live shrimp did the trick. Next up, we drifted the flats and did very well on cork rigs again for the trout. Watermelon red flake Lil' Johns were the trout's preference today. We topped off the day with a nice gag grouper, mackerel, released a few others and great job today team... Capt. Dan

Inshore....

Another solid day on the inshore scene with Ann and Lauren from the Settin the Hook team. We had a great time catching a couple red fish and the trout action was awesome. The trout are holding in about 3ft of water and using DOA deadly combos are producing right now. The darker colored soft plastics seen to be the preferred flavor and here's Ann and Lauren with one of our fine Homosassa trout... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout & Reds...

A perfect day on the inshore scene with the Allen family and they hit it out of the park. Our day consisted of working the shallow grass flats using a combination of DOA jerk baits and jig and cork rigs. The cork rigs produced quite a few trout, but most were on the short side. When we made the change to the soft plastic jerk baits, the quality trout came on board. The red fish action was good as well, soon as the tide got right. Cut bait and live shrimp were the flavors of the day for the reds and I thank you all for a special day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Slam...

Well, we got blown off the water yesterday due to the conditions, but today it was much more favorable. I had the pleasure of having Tim and Jeanne on board and the team did great. We left the dock a bit later today, fished the tide and finished up the day with a fine inshore slam. The trout were on cork rigs, snook on jerk baits and the red fish on live shrimp/cut bait. A perfect sample of all three species and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Day Two...

Another windy one with the Scott party, for their second day out of the Homosassa Fishing Club. My team did great once again and we just about had identical results from yesterdays trip. The patterned didn't change at all and the only real difference, was there was quite a bit lower water in the morning. I had to start my trout drifts West about a couple hundred yards from the prior day and the trout were there as well. Two fun days and I look forward to seeing you next year... Capt. Dan
