Offshore Sheeps...

Well, I decided to give the offshore sheepshead bite a try once again since the cold front came though. The trout have pretty much locked up since the big temperature change, but it will improve in the coming days. So for today's trip, Burke, Jeremy and I headed offshore. I haven't been to the sheepshead grounds in a couple weeks due to the warm temperatures, but since the gulf dropped back to the low 60's, I knew it should turn the sheepshead back on. Well, it was a good call and the bite was excellent and big fish too. Numerous sheepshead, gag grouper and we picked up a pair of trout on the way home inshore. A fantastic day and I thank you both for the awesome time... Capt. Dan

An awesome day with my brother and friends and its been close to five years since we fished together. So for today, we made the run offshore and had a great mixed bag. From trout, grouper, hog fish, Spanish mackerel, etc... we had over 10 different species. The best part of the day was the catch and release gag grouper action and we caught some fine sized gags we took pictures of; before we sent them home. A truly picture perfect day offshore and I thank all you guys for the great day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A great day and a nice mixed bag with Bill, Stu and Jim out of Crystal River. The team and I left the dock from Pete's Pier Marina just after 8am and we headed to the sheepshead grounds. As you all know, I really enjoy taking my clients sheespehad fishing and it's definitely something special you can't do all year. However, with the water warming, the season is almost over and we're finishing it off with a couple more fine catches. Today was fantastic with good action of sheepshead, sea bass and a few bonus gag grouper. To end with the day, we jigged a couple rock bars and added a couple trout to the mix. I thank you all for the great day and enjoy all the fillets... Capt. Dan

Sheep's Winding Down...

Another beautiful day offshore Crystal River with Clell and Richard and we tackled some more sheepshead as the season slows. I met the guys at 9am and we ran down the river with foggy conditions. We caught a couple trout to get the day going as the fog lifted and put a nice keeper in the box, before we headed West. We anchored up on a couple different ledges and caught some fine sized sheepshead and the first Spanish Mackerel of the season. The gulfs warming every day and soon the inshore action will be excellent. Thank you both for the good time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trophy...

We caught the big one of the sheepshead season today and it's definitely one to be proud of. Skip, Chuck and Dave were with me for the day and the bite was kind of slow, but caught some good fish. The theme of the day was just a couple bites on each rock we fished; so I had to move around quite a bit. Skip hooked into the big one of over 10lbs and it sure was a heck of a sheepshead. I always enjoy the day with you all and look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Hot Sheep.....

It was another spring like day on the big pond and Carl, Dan, Jessica and Mike hit it out of the park. I met the gang at Pete's Pier at 9am and we ran to some of my favorite sheepshead ledges I haven't yet been to this year and it was on. The team did fantastic and the bite was unbelievable. Numerous nice sized sheepshead and some keepers sized catch and release gags filled out our day. I thank the whole group for the fun time and I look forward to our next charter... Capt. Dan

Big Sheep's...

The sheepshead bite sure is good right now and Bob and Sandy had a great day to experience it. I met the couple at Pete's Pier Marina and it was smooth sailing all the way to 20ft of water. We anchored on the first spot and did well. Some hefty sheepshead came aboard and some catch and release gags as well. The next couple of stops were slow, but the afternoon bite was excellent. A nice of a day as you could ask for and I thank you both for the fun time. Here's Sandy with the big one of the day... Capt. Dan

Sheepshead Excellence...

Just a couple more weeks left of the sheepshead season and it sure has been a couple good months. Today, Bob and Nancy joined me for a full day of tackling some offshore sheepshead and with the weather FINALLY nice; it was an excellent day. We fished the 15ft-18ft depth range and caught some beauties. The action was very good and we just had some fog to contend with during the mid morning hours. The sun came out in the afternoon and I do hope spring is on its way. I always enjoy or trips together and thank you both for a great day... Capt. Dan

Dense Fog Sheep's...

Some of the worst fog I've experienced on today's Crystal River Charter and it was a LONG wet ride. Henry, Tom and Larry were with me for the day and once again the winter sheepshead were the plan of the day. I did basically what I've been doing on my recent charters and jumping spot to spot and catching a couple on each location. The fog kept us on our toes, but we hung in there and had a nice catch. I thank you all for the good day and look forward to our future trips... Capt. Dan

Good to be Out Sheep's...

Good to be back on the big pond and what a week of blustery winter weather. Today though was as beautiful as it gets and Don and Mike had a good time. We stayed offshore for the day and with the gulf in the mid 50's, sheepshead were going to be our only option for steady action. We fished several hard bottom areas and did well while taking a couple on each spot. The middle part of the day was slow with the hard running tide; but as the tide slowed the bite picked back up. We finished with a nice catch of sheepshead and I thank you both for a great day. Also I want to let you all know Sunday February 22nd, the Homosassa Guides Association will be hosting our annual fund raiser fish fry at Macrae's in Homosassa. We will begin serving around noon, it's $8.00 a plate and will have a raffle with some nice items to win. The group also donates some of the proceeds to local charities and the Homosasssa Learning Center. Hope to see you all there... Capt. Dan
