Crystal River Slam & Some...

A good time with the Villages team of Lauren, Dan and Big Fish Bob. Our day began on the outgoing tide and securing a fine catch of red fish, plus a snook on the first cast. We left this inshore scene and made our way out to 12ft of water. We set up shop on some hard bottom and had some fantastic mangrove snapper and grouper action. The action was fast and furious for over and hour, and Lauren actually turned a keeper gag on light 10lb test tackle. We finished the day with a trout to complete the slam and I thank you all... Solar Snook...

The solar eclipse day and we caught a couple, but the bite wasn't on fire. Don and Frank were my guests today and we had some luck on some small gags for the morning hours, as we waited for the tide to turn in. On the incoming tide, we picked up a couple red fish real quick and a beautiful snook, but that was about it. I jumped around to several places but the surface on the points was quite still, with very little mullet activity. This is usually not a good sign and that was it for bites today. Still a great time and congratulations Frank on your hefty snook... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A fun day with Jim on board and he came solo, for a great first time experience. Jim and I began our day on the outgoing tide, catching a couple snook and a fine slot red fish to bend the rod. I didn't have a bunch of tide to work with, but we made it happen. For the rest of our day we did the rock pile game and did well on mangrove snapper and a keeper gag. A nice variety and I thank you Jim... Capt. Dan

Settin' The Hook Team...

What a day to start the week and the Settin' the Hook ladies team had an awesome Crystal River charter. I had the pleasure of having Olivia, Ann and Michelle on board with some fantastic action. Every day on the water is a great day, but some are more special than others and today was exceptional. The red fish action was so great, and a combination of live pinfish and live shrimp kept us busy. We also had some bonus species of trout, snapper, sheepshead etc.. to fill out our day. I thank you all and congratulations on a terrific day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

What a great day today with Steve and Billy on board and we ran offshore, where we left them biting yesterday. I got the boat positioned in about 18ft of water and the team sent down some live shrimp. We fished about an hour and a half and we had on stop action with snook, red fish, mangrove snapper, trout, grunts and some gag grouper. A couple of the species were surprises and the abundance of trout offshore, is quite interesting. I believe the hot water temperature sends some of the inshore shore species offshore for comfort and it's always an adventure on the big pond... Capt. Dan

Solo Steve...

A great first day back at the office and I had Steve on board solo. Steve and I began our day in the back country catching a couple snook on DOA jerk baits on the outgoing tide. The water dropped out pretty quick, so we made our way West to some rock piles and did well. Steve caught his first cobia and we hit a school of really nice trout on the same rock; which was a really nice surprise - I hope they are there for us again tomorrow. Always a fun time with you buddy and I'll see you in the morning... Capt. Dan

4 Days of Snook...

We finished up Jim's final day with another solid snook catch and we reached double digits on numbers of fish again. This particular week has been terrific for snook action and it worked out perfect, since the winds were up for the tarpon game. We used one lure, the DOA glow jerk bait and 40lb leader; which we even had a couple fish chew through the heavy leader too. It was a blast being in the back country most of the trip and I thank you for four memorable days. I'll see you in Wyoming soon my friend... Capt. Dan

Yankeetown Snookin"...

An exploring day with Jim again on board and we ran "out of my comfort" zone and did some looking around. I ran to the North side of the county and we eased in some of the creeks I looked at on google earth. The tide was incoming which I definitely wanted to be and just reading the water, we had an awesome trip. Fish like structure no matter where they are and we applied the tactics and did well. Him and I caught a few snook, trout, jacks, saw numerous giant black drum and a bonus flounder. Another fun day and a new area to keep working on... Capt. Dan

Hot Homosassa Snook...

It seems to be a pattern - the lousy the weather, the better the snook bite. It was day two with Jim on board and we hit the snook right on target. Yesterday was great, but today was spectacular. Just about every where that looked "snooky" produced a real quality line-sider, and the DOA glow jerk baits were our baits of the day. Definitely a day to remember and here's Jim with the big one of the day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Snook...

Hello everyone, well this is my busy time of year with long hours, tarpon and I haven't had a bunch of time to keep the updates coming. The last couple of days have been hit and miss on the tarpon, but today we stuck inside with the snook and did very well. Jim is in town from Oregon and had a great day. He brought in several hefty back country snook and had several shake the hook as well. DOA glow jerk baits were the deal and I thank you for a great day. Jims here for the next couple of days, so were going to do some exploring and see what goodies we can find... Capt. Dan
