The Barlow team was with me today and Tim and Ron were the guys to get it going on. I met the father and son team at the Plantation on Crystal River and we headed to the ledges to troll up some gags. Well, the grouper bite was exceptionally good; as we trolled our way to a limit of grouper and Rapala plugs were the flavor of the day. After our grouper and the outgoing tide, we jigged up ten fine trout to top off the day. Congratulations fellas on a great day and enjoy all the fresh fish... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Gags and Trout....

Barbara and David were the team today from the Smith party and once again, we ran to grouper land. I took the husband & wife team plug casting and they did great. Some nice grouper came on board in just two stops and we then jigged up some trout in 7ft of water. I tied on some root-beer MirrO'lure Lil' Johns and the trout were concentrated on some rock piles. We trout fished for and hour and made it back inshore, for our afternoon shore lunch. Two great days and I thank you all... Capt. Dan

Rain Delay...

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving as we did, but we had late take off today due to the rain - it was much needed. I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club with fellow Homosassa Guides Association Captains, Mark Zorn, Jim Long, William Toney and Johnathan Hamilton. The guys and I had the pleasure of having the Smith party on board and Cr. Coco and his wife Nancy were with me for the afternoon. As we took off and reached the mouth of the Homosassa, I took the couple South and plug cast a really nice limit of gags. The grouper were biting well and a couple trout found their way on board too. A fun time and I'll see you all tomorrow... Capt. Dan

Gags and Bonus Red...

The seas calmed down for us today to make it happen and with Bob and Nancy in town from Pennsylvania; the team caught some nice gags and an offshore surprise. We actually started the day inshore jerk baiting some trout and picked up a couple, as we waited for the wind to calm down a bit. Around 11am, I made the run offshore and we were able to catch some nice gags; but it was still a bit on the rough side. Four nice fish came on board, plus a huge offshore red fish which was a welcomed surprise. The team had a great day and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan

One Stop Gags..

One stop today and we got them. Tony and Steve were my guests today and grouper once again was on the menu. We dropped down on some scattered low profile rocks with live pin fish and did very well. We caught close to 20 grouper on one spot, while also filling out our limit. The team did really good turning the fish and we also added a couple trout before he headed home. A fun day guys and I look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Big Haul...

What a day!!! It was that awesome three day after a major front bite today, and the fish were in a feeding mood. I had the pleasure of having Ted, Brad and Curtis on board and the team did outstanding. They started the day jigging up a beautiful limit of trout on MirrO'lure Lil Johns and bourbon was the flavor of the day. After a fine morning of trout action, we headed to the grouper grounds and trolled up some fine gags and bottom fished our last keeper too. The weather was absolutely perfect and I can't thank you all enough for a fun day... Capt. Dan

Much Better...

A huge different in conditions and what a difference a day makes. The sea's calmed to glass and at least the trout acclimated to the temperature drop. I had the Keeler team on board and the gang jigged up some nice trout for the morning hours. The water is still quite muddy, but the fish are there. I gave the grouper a try again and I was able to make it out to the 20ft range. We trolled up several shorts and a nice keeper to wrap up the day. The conditions look to be getting better each day this week and thank you all for a fun day... Capt. Dan

Jamboree Day 2...

Day two at the Homosassa Fishing Clubs Jamboree and for today's trip, we changed it up a bit. There was a 1pm shore-lunch scheduled and with the huge amount of fish brought in by everyone yesterday, we just limited our boats to 5 trout a person. My team started the day out just fine by catching our 5 keeper trout in two short drifts, plus letting a few go. With a little time to kill, I ran to some shallow rock piles and we plugged up some grouper. The guys had a couple just under the 24" mark, but John turned a dandy at over 30". We headed back inshore, prepared a fine shore lunch and I thank you all for the fun two days... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Jamboree

Today was the Homosassa Fishing Clubs day one, of their annual Jamboree. 35 club members were in attendance and 12 of the Homosassa Guides Association Captains had a awesome day of fishing. My crew consisted of Butch, Ken and John and these gentlemen had some hot rods. They brought in a beautiful limit of fine trout and a bonus red fish. DOA glow jerk baits were the baits of the day and we ran way south to "Chazz". All the boats brought in very good catches and I thank you all for a great day one... Capt. Dan

Fighting the Wind..

It was blowing today folks. I had the pleasure of having the Bennett team on board and we had good time despite the wind. I made a long run south today towards "Chazz" and we used DOA glow jerk baits to tackle our trout. The fish were keying in on the kelp grass patches and we caught only 2 short trout in a couple drifts. The tide wasn't quite right for red fishing, as it's getting later and later each day; but we made a stop and Shane had a nice slot fish to round up the trip. Thank you guys for putting up with the conditions and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
