Macks and Trout Sept. 11 2010 Featured

P9110134Today was the final day of the Dr. Kokko's party at the Homosassa Fishing Club. I did something a little different today and targeted Spanish mackerel for the first part of the day. Todd and John were aboard and were ready for some drag screaming action. We set up on some hard bottom and started chumming. In no time we had a large school of ballyhoo next to the boat, and I quickly threw the cast next and loaded up on bait. A combination of chum, free lined live shrimp and fresh cut ballyhoo kept the macks in a feeding frenzy. We kept 15 and left them biting. There was a slight breeze today which was all I needed to get the trout bite going. They trout didn't disappoint and 9 keepers made there way into the cooler. I only had a hour to put the guys on some reds and we did catch a few. We boated four but nothing of any size. The sky was turning black to the east and we called it a day. Thanks to the whole group for a fun couple days and hope to see you all next year. Here is Todd with a hefty trout caught on a DOA deadly combo... Capt. Dan
