Another Crystal River Monster Red. Nov. 23rd 2010 Featured

PB230275Another big red fish surprise today! I met Kevin, Brooke and Josh this morning down the river at a house they were enjoying for the Thanksgiving holiday. We started the day catching some great upper slot trout; with a couple over the 20" mark. We ended with 8 keepers in the cooler using the DOA cal glow shad tail jigs. The full moon tides have been here for the week and usually create a short bite window. Usually you have to catch them quick while the fish are feeding. Today was one of those cases and when the trout turned off they were done. Next, we ran offshore to troll up a grouper. The grouper bite was a little slow and took a while to get them going. However, we did find a couple keepers and a monster red fish found a Rapala x-rap irresistible. This was a surprise catch and especially in 20ft of water. Kevin did a great job playing the fish and it was his biggest to date. Thank you all for the memorable day and outstanding job on all the fish species. I'll see you next time... Capt. Dan
