First Sign of Spring. Feb. 18th 2011 Featured

What a difference a day makes. Today the gulf hit the magic 60 degree mark and it was like some one hit a light switch. The were a few schools of glass minnows, several mackerel hitting the surface and the pin fish were stealing our baits. I had the Fellows family on board out of Crystal River and we caught a mixed bag. Targeting the offshore rock piles we caught black sea bass, mackerel, sheepshead and a few flounder. The water was the clearest I've seen yet, but the sheepshead didn't feed as well as they have been. On one location we saw well over several dozen large sheepshead, but I believe they had spawning on there minds instead of eating. It was great to see a variety of species and P2180379today's catch is one of the best for good eats. Thanks to Alan, Karen, Pete and Alan for a fun day... Capt. Dan
