Crystal River Mack Attack. March 14th 2011 Featured

P3130408Holy Mackerel! That was the bite of the day. I met Jeff at Pete's Pier this morning and he wanted to experience some inshore fishing. We started out the day catching every short trout in the Gulf of Mexico; "well it seemed that way". The trout bite was steady, but just no keepers. We the left the short trout, anchored up and did fantastic on the Spanish mackerel. We kept a few for a couple meals and let several of the smaller ones go. Free lined live shrimp was the ticket for the macks. After the drag screaming mackerel we ended up how the day started. Catching trout after trout, but they were all short on one end. We did catch a nice bonus pompano and the first one I have see this year. Great job today Jeff and hope to see you soon... Capt. Dan
