Mango Madness. Aug. 16th 2011 Featured

P8160705The mangrove "mango" snapper bite was outstanding today. With the full moon in progress, the snapper congregate around the various offshore structures for their spawning rituals. Joe and Marty joined me out of the Best Western for a 1/2 day Crystal River charter and they did fantastic. It was non stop action between the snappers, numerous gag groupers and grunts. Slick seas and a light breeze made for a hot day, but the hot conditions were worth it. A live shrimp rigged on a 1/8th oz Hank Brown jig head was the bait of choice.
