Homosassa Trout & Dodging Storms. Aug. 30th 2011 Featured

P8300722Donna and Tony were on board today and I picked them up from their beautiful home on the Homosassa river. Leaving the dock a little before 8am, we noticed several storms around, but we got lucky and out ran them. It was a little to rough to run offshore to the rock piles, so plan B was to stay inshore and find a couple trout. Fishing the shallower 3ft to 4ft depth range, we  picked up a few keepers and released numerous shorts to fill out the morning. DOA deadly combos and using the glow cal shad tail jig was the bait of choice for the day. Our next plan was to fish the afternoon high tide for red fish, but we had one more batch of bad weather coming. We made the call to come on in and play it safe and with enough fish for dinner, the day was a success. Thank you both for a fun time and look forward to seeing you again, when you come back to Florida... Capt. Dan
