Windy, Cold, Crystal River Trout...

Written by
Not the most pleasant day to be on the water, but when the action was this good - who cares about the wind and cold. Richard and Dalton were my guests today out of Pete's Pier Marina and we bundled up and ran towards the gulf. It's was a damp, cold, boat ride and the tide situation wasn't great either. It was a -1.1 low tide (this means at least a one foot below a normal mean low tide). Needless to say, the mouth of the river looked like the moon. I told the guys the fish could only be in a couple places, so we fished the troughs between the oyster bars and did outstanding. DOA deadly combos rigged with baby bass colored jerk baits was the hot bait and in two hours the guys had their limit. To be honest, I was surprised myself about how good the action was and once again; you just never know how the day will go. I thank you both for a great 1/2 day Crystal River charter and congratulations on a fine catch... Capt. Dan
