Thank You Everyone!!!!

What a great feeling to be cared about by so many. Sodium Fishing Gear is hosting and holding the event at their store on Hwy 44 Crystal River, with so many other great business participating; to raise some $$$ for me during my down time. I am over whelmed by all the love everyone has expressed and all I can say is THANK YOU!!! The event will be June 2nd 10am-5pm, with a fish fry and many silent auction items to bid on. I'm getting through this time best I can and I start round two of my chemotherapy tomorrow... Back in the fishing world, the weather has really been not the best and to be honest I'm not missing to much. Some decent red fishing has been the top of most everybody's catches lately with cut pin fish being the best bait to target them. I thank you all for your support and I'll check in soon. Good Fishing! Capt. Dan

Hanging In There...

Everything has been going as planned on my end. Some good days, some bad - but overall I'm hanging in there. I'm not quite up to taking out charters though and I truly don't quite see me being able to do so for a while yet. However on the fishing front in our area, the cobia are still the main attraction on the offshore structures, plus some nice keeper sized gags are beating them to the baits as well. "They will be open June 1st". I got a report that jigging the humps area off Crystal River has produced some Spanish Mackerel, silver and speckled trout, plus a few cobia. Have a great week... Capt. 1st Round Down...

Hello everyone and once again, thank you to all of you that have sent the many kind messages as I go through this progress. The first round of chemotherapy is complete and I will just say this - "IT'S NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE!" I'll push through it though, keep on trucking and hopefully get a fishing day or two in before the next round. In the fishing world, the cobia migration is about as good as it gets right now, as all the usual cobia haunts are producing. Live pin fish and thread fin herring are the hot baits from what I've been hearing. The best trout action continues to be on the grass patches in 8ft of water using Lil' John Jigs and a few tarpon reports a trickling in from the south end of the county. I'll be here and look forward to posting again soon... Capt. Dan
