Ladies of the Gulf Variety...

An awesome day and an even better crew on board today. I had the pleasure of having the "Ladies of the Gulf" on board and we had a great mixed bag. Today's trip began drifting offshore a bit in about 6ft of water and jigging up some trout. In a couple of drifts, the team brought about a dozen beautiful trout to the boat, plus lots of lady fish keeping us busy as well. With a fine catch of Crystal River trout, our next stop was to anchor up and do some chumming. I picked one of my favorite rocks and we had plenty of variety. Free lined live shrimp in the chum slick kept us busy and I can't thank you all enough for the great day... Capt. Dan

Offshore Sheep's...

Some more excellent late season sheepshead action offshore and with the Lent family on board; they did fantastic. We fished the ledges in the 17ft-23ft range and did very well. The sheepshead action was very good, as well as the gag grouper. The grouper were pretty much non stop all day and we even had a Goliath grouper grab a grouper for some added excitement. A bonus cobia was caught and we all had a great day. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A good mix in species today in Crystal River and we caught the first cobia of the season. I had Henry, Rich and John on board for the day and we began the day with a red fish on the line. The tide was running out hard so we couldn't stay to long, but did catch a nice keeper, a short and had a bruiser cut us off. For the rest of the day we targeted trout, mackerel and caught a bonus 31" cobia. The cobia wasn't quite a keeper, but it sure was good to see one. A really fun day and I thank you all for the great time.... Capt. Dan

A great day with an old friend. Bo joined me for the day and I haven't fished with him for close to 15yrs. I went to school with Bo throughout the years, played all the sports together and it sure was a fun to be on the boat together again. Today we ran way south to put some time on the new engine and break her in right. We trolled up a limit of gags up to 17lbs and only took one fish on each rock we trolled over. I've been dying to catch a hog fish on hook and line and I've spear fished several, but never on rod and reel. Well, I stopped on a high profile rock in 23ft of water and finally did it. We had to cull through lots of grunts, but mission accomplished "and we actually caught two". I thank you Bo for the fun day and please check out my Crystal River Fishing Facebook page for additional pictures as always.

A beautiful day with great clients and friends. Mishel & Earl joined me once again out of Crystal River for fish catching day. Grouper was on the menu and we anchored up on one of my favorite shallow ledges in 12ft of water and sent down the baits. The bite was on immediately and in short order we put a couple fine gags in the box, a couple break offs and a pair of fun size cobia. I could feel it was time to give trolling a try, so we ran out a few more miles and put out the plugs. Mishel caught a fine pair of a gag grouper to top off their limit and on the way back to shore; she added a hefty 34" red fish to end the day. A great time as always and I thank you both again... Homosassa Rocks...

We made the 20 mile run offshore today and was it ever on! I had the pleasure of having the Bosworth family on board out of Macrae's and these guys hit it out of the park. Awesome action of grunts and mangroves on the shallow rocks to start the day. Excellent grouper action in 28ft of water with some hefty gags. And the team finished off the trip with seven fine trout drifting the grass patches in 10ft of water. What a day and I thank you all for the outstanding trip... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inside & Out....

A great day with some great friends! Johnny, Robyn and Vickie joined me out of Pete's Pier Marina for a day of what ever we can catch kind of day, and we had a little variety. We left the marina at 8am and with plenty of tide and we hit the points to find a red fish or two. I put the team on a couple keepers on the lower slot end and had several larger fish all around, but just wouldn't eat. Our next stop was the shallow rocks to pull on a grouper or two and are they ever there. We cast a few plugs and caught some real nice keeper sized gags, a cobia and never left 7ft of water. The floating grass was a bit of a pain, but a clean drag resulted in a grouper. The trout bite for the afternoon was just about non existent for us and only a couple shorts filled out the last of our trip. A fun time and it's always a blast to check on the extremely strong gag grouper population. Here's a fine gag we caught and released to see again come July 1st... Capt. Dan

Team Reel Adrenaline...

A fantastic day out of the Plantation on Crystal River and I had some special guests on board. I had the husband and wife team of Reel Adrenaline energy drinks on board and they had a day. Steve and Amber did a great job from a variety of species on the rock piles to jigging up a fine catch of trout. The bite was great all day and even though it was a little bumpy in the morning, the afternoon calmed down nicely. Live shrimp on the rock piles brought in the snapper, grunts, jacks and grouper. While the Mirrolure Lil' Johns tackled the trout, sea bass, cobia and blue fish. On the way home, I made a quick stop in the Salt River and Steve added a fine red fish to end the day. I thank you all for great time and please give Reel Adrenaline energy drinks try. They taste great and keep you going strong through out the day... Capt. Dan

Great grouper action continues and on today's 1/2 day charter, we found them again. I fished with my good friend Capt. Mark Zorn and we took out his long time friend Louie and grandson Cade. I pretty much fished the same pattern as I have been by dropping large palm sized pin fish on the shallow ledge breaks. We turned most of them today, but a couple got the best of us to keep us coming back. On the second stop, a pair of cobia came crusing by and we landed one just shy of making it to the keeper mark, but young Cade had a great fight with it. We called it a day before noon and I thank you all for the great trip. Here's Louie and Cades upcoming grouper dinners... Capt. Dan

The grouper turned on and they were much more aggressive than yesterdays trip. I had Ron and Dan on board for a fun day out of Crystal River and the guys did great. With very favorable condtions for running offshore, we stuck to the grouper plan and headed West. Filling the live well with insurance, we stopped and caught several dozen palm sized pinfish to have some grouper candy on standby. In a half hours boat ride, we arrived at our destination and in no time, we were hooked up. Live baits were the ticket and several keeper sized gags came aboard, along with cobia and a hefty nurse shark. We caught our limit on two stops and ran back inshore to the 10ft range and added a couple trout to the mix. A really good day of fishing and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan
