Crystal River Inside & Out....
A great day with some great friends! Johnny, Robyn and Vickie joined me out of Pete's Pier Marina for a day of what ever we can catch kind of day, and we had a little variety. We left the marina at 8am and with plenty of tide and we hit the points to find a red fish or two. I put the team on a couple keepers on the lower slot end and had several larger fish all around, but just wouldn't eat. Our next stop was the shallow rocks to pull on a grouper or two and are they ever there. We cast a few plugs and caught some real nice keeper sized gags, a cobia and never left 7ft of water. The floating grass was a bit of a pain, but a clean drag resulted in a grouper. The trout bite for the afternoon was just about non existent for us and only a couple shorts filled out the last of our trip. A fun time and it's always a blast to check on the extremely strong gag grouper population. Here's a fine gag we caught and released to see again come July 1st... Capt. Dan
Crystal River Flat Calm Trout....
It isn't very often I wish for wind, but we sure could have used a little today. Richard, Tommy and Adam were on board with me today out of Crystal River and we made our way back offshore. "NOT" a ripple on the big pond made it a bit tough to cover some water, but we moved around little by little and did well. Several trout, sea bass, grouper, flounder, sharks and lady fish filled out out drifts and we had plenty of action. Once again the root beer Lil' Johns did their job on 1/8th oz jig heads. We released another fine gag grouper and had a hefty cobia interested on a jerk bait, but wouldn't commit. I thank you all for the fun time and look forward to seeing you in the future... Capt. Dan
Homosassa Offshore Trout...
Happy Cinco de Mayo, and what a great day it was. I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my great friend Capt. Mark Zorn and we had the pleasure of fishing the Craft party. Calm seas and a light breeze made for ideal conditions drifting offshore to find some trout. We teamed up and drifted the spotty bottom areas West of Homosassa in the 8ft range and had some great action. Both boats had a fine limit of trout, several sea bass and even caught and released some keeper sized gags. Root beer MirrOlure Lil' Johns were the baits today and I can't thank you all enough for the great time. Here's the gang with today's catch... Capt. Dan
