Gags & King...

A great start to the week with Bill and Tim on board and the gentlemen did terrific. I took the team offshore a bit to just about 30ft of water and the bite was on. Lots of short gags for the first stop or two, but then the big guys fired up. On one drop Tim lucked in to a bonus king fish, as they are always a fun fight and a drag screamer. A beautiful day and I thank you both... Capt. Dan

Beautiful Offshore....

Without a doubt, the most picture perfect beautiful day one could ask for and Clell and Lee were able to experience it. We left the Plantation on Crystal River to very foggy conditions, but once we reached the Mangrove Pt. area, it was smooth sailing offshore. The guys and I targeted the 28ft area today and with glass calm conditions, we had a awesome catch. A limit of gag grouper, a big king Mack, several grunt and a hog fish filled out the day. I bottomed fished today, as the grass was just to thick to drag plugs. On the way back inshore, I was reluctant to red fish as it was so slow yesterday; but we hit one little pocket and brought in four fine slot sized red fish to end the day. A perfect day and I thank you both as always for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Offshore Crystal River...

The day of all days to go offshore and Bill, Henry and Steve hit it out of the park. I met the guys at 8am and we headed West. When I reached the mouth of the river it was like glass, so we made the run to 30ft. I anchored and the day was pretty much non stop action. Live shrimp on knocker rigs kept the rods bent and it was some fantastic fishing. We also caught some blue runners that we used as live bait and landed a 15lb gag grouper on one. It was one of those picture perfect days and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan

Offshore Crystal River...

One of the best and most memorable days offshore I may have ever had. I had Kristen and Nick on board for the day and we made the trek out to 35ft of water. We did a mix of bottom fishing, trolling and free lining to fill out the day. The bottom fishing for grouper was excellent and we released well over a dozen keeper sized gags, but also caught some red grouper too. The highlight of the day for us though, were the big king mackerel. We free lined sardines while on anchor and caught some beautiful hefty king fish close to 20lbs. These fish were drag burning monsters and it was truly great. I had a first for me today and landed a couple scamp grouper. Scamp grouper are usually found real deep and though these weren't keeper sized; it was still cool to see them. Non stop action and what a beautiful day - I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Holy Mackerel!!!

Hardly a ripple of the gulf today and we had the weather to go offshore. Buck, Norm and Larry were with me for the day and we were offshore bound. I haven't been to the 30ft range in a while, so that was where we targeted the grouper. We sent down the plugs and Norm hooked up with a smoker king fish to get the day going. The grouper turned on for about an hour, as was to be expected before the tide started hauling in. We caught six fine gags, anchored up and added some grunts to the mix then called it a day. Calm seas, beautiful weather and great fishing - it was an awesome day... Capt. Dan
