Always a fun time every year taking out the Homosassa Elementary 5th grade students and this year was a great time as well. I had Mrs. Harrell's students on board and Robbie, Austin and Carson had a blast catching several mangrove snapper and lady fish. We had 14 guides on the trip and 50 students participate in both fishing and some science work as well. The Homosassa blue waters had plenty of action for us and I thank the entire group for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Today was our annual Homosassa Elementary 5th grade fishing trip with myself and the entire Homosassa Guides Association out of River Side Resort. This is a fun field trip for the 5th grade class and besides catching fish; they include some science, math and good outdoor education. I had Mr. Hannet's group on board and these young guys had a blast catching more mangrove snapper and lady fish than they could count. Myself and the other guides kept it simple and fished the Homosassa Head Waters. This is such a big success with all the kids and nothing brings a bigger smile on our faces than seeing these kids catching some fish. Thank you to Capt. Mike Baize for coordinating the yearly event and Homosassa Elementary for the opportunity to teach our up and coming generation the outdoors... Capt. Dan

Crystal River, Cold 1/2 Day....

I don't know about the start of 2014, but the weather has to get better soon. On today's trip, I had the great pleasure of having the Urban family on board and we made the best of a chilly situation. I was hoping the weather man was right with diminishing winds to run offshore for sheepshead, but it didn't happen. The team and I made the best of a chilly day, and we had a little bit of action in the river. Trout, mangrove snapper and lady fish around the springs kept the rods bent for a little while. I thank you all for hanging in there and giving today a try... Capt. Dan

Crystal River to Homosassa...

We made the big swing today from the North side of Crystal River to flats off Homosassa. Jack and John were on board today for a full day charter and the guys had some busy action. The lady fish have invaded the area in full force and it was making it difficult to get to the trout. The trout we did catch, were quality fish and all came on glow DOA cal shad tail jigs and bourbon colored MirrOlure Lil' Johns. From the 8ft spotty bottom areas to the shallow flats off the keys, we caught trout in all locations. The guys did a fine job and secured plenty of fillets for dinner. I thank you both for the fun time and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Yes folks, there was Ice on the boat until 10am today, but we made the best of it and had a fun day. Myself and fellow Homosassa Guides Association members Mark Zorn, William Toney and Gary Cox had the pleasure of fishing the Homosassa Fishing Club members out of Crystal River for this chilly December day. I had Bo, Brant and Ashley on board and we covered the all the basis from the river to the gulf. Through out the morning, we had great action in the river with mangrove snapper, trout and lady fish, but the table fair species were all on the short side. The wind was quite strong until noon time, so after noon, we made a quick dash to a shallow ledge and loaded up on the ever reliable tasty sea bass. My crew put 13 nice keepers in the cooler to secure our shore lunch for tomorrow.  The other captains had a nice assortment of mangrove snapper, sheepshead and a red fish and trout to total our trip. Capt. Zorn won the  prize with most keepers with 15 and yours truly just fell shy with 14 to take second place. I thank you all for the fun time and we'll see you tomorrow. Here's Ashley with one of our sea bass from today's Crystal River charter... Capt. Dan
