Crystal River Slam...

We stayed inshore today with the stiff South wind and Chris and Frank did very well. The father and son team completed the inshore slam with a fine catch of trout, redfish and the ever elusive slot snook. DOA glow jerk baits were the lone producer and they caught all the fish for us. We released a couple under slot snook as well, and a hefty 33" red fish to top off the day. I thank you both and great job team... Capt. Dan

More WIND!!!

Once again the gusty East wind was our conditions today and it made it quite tough. I had Joe and Joanne on board and I was able to briefly make a sheepshead stop, catch a few; but the conditions quickly chased us back in to shore. The wind didn't allow much for the tide to come in, but we did pick up a nice lower slot red fish and a beautiful Crystal River snook to add to the day. It was a tough one, but I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan

Slam....

The opening day of snook season and the Bart, Shane and Dwight team did awesome. We spent the day in the shallow stuff and had a really great day on the DOA jerk baits. I used the glow holographic color today and they sure did their job. The wind was up a bit out of the SW and the tide rolled in quickly. The red fishing was OK with mostly short guys, but a nice keeper and over slot came on board to add to the catch. I thank you all and can't wait until next time... Capt. Dan

Going Skinny...

An absolute blast today with Russell on board and did he ever have fun. I had him solo today so I took my Silver King skiff and we hit the back country. The tide was super low and it was just perfect for tailing red fish. I poled the skiff in just inches of water and we had numerous shots at tailing fish. We just couldn't connect though, as they would come unbuttoned or violently miss the jerk baits. The tide soon turned, so we swapped gears and really did great on the shallow water trout. We kept a couple and for a bonus, Russell caught his first ever snook " and a big one at that". A great day and congratulations... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Springs...

Day two with the Beeson party and we had the same game plan. The bite was quite a bit slower then yesterday, as there was much more boat traffic on the river and makes it a bit congested. The team and I still caught a few small snook and a fine trout using jigs along the shorelines. The darker colors seem to work a little better for the snook as using anything "flashy", will guarantee a lady fish on the end of your line. A fun, but very cold couple days and I thank you all... Icy Snook....

A quick update before today's report.. Well folks, it looks like a major snook kill for our area from the Withlacoochee area to Chassahowitzka. I've seen lots of pictures of dead snook of all sizes and even though we still have several thousand that are safe in the rivers, the "outside" population took the hit. We'll still have fish to catch, but like the 2010 freeze; it will take some time to recuperate... However though, I did have a great first charter to start 2018 with the Beeson party in Homosassa. Myself and Capt's. Mark Zorn, William Toney, Rick Spratt and John Hamilton all had ice on board our boats and we made something happen in the cold conditions. The gang and I stayed in the river and had some luck with a mixed bag around the springs. Snook, red fish, jacks, large mouth bass, trout and we even jumped a tarpon, filled out our day. It's a small area, but we did OK, as the gulf will be slow for quite a few days. Here's Phil with one of the larger snook of the day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Slam...

Well, we got blown off the water yesterday due to the conditions, but today it was much more favorable. I had the pleasure of having Tim and Jeanne on board and the team did great. We left the dock a bit later today, fished the tide and finished up the day with a fine inshore slam. The trout were on cork rigs, snook on jerk baits and the red fish on live shrimp/cut bait. A perfect sample of all three species and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Reds, Snook and Gags...

Back out for my second trip after the storm and we did just fine. Mishel and Earl were on board and the team had a really good day. Red fishing started our trip and on two stops, each of them caught some beautiful Crystal River red fish. While red fishing, we also picked up three snook as a fun bonus. Next up, we ran offshore and turned a couple keeper gags, The grouper bite was OK, with a couple big one's getting the best of us as well. Always a fun time with you both and I'll see you soon... After IRMA...

Hello everyone, I hope you all fared well during the storm and we all sure were blessed in our area; as it could have been a lot worse. I personally was fine, but six days with out power was the worst of it for my family. I've been on the water twice since the storms passing and fishing is excellent. The gulf water temperature dropped a bit and the redfish and snook bite is very good. We've caught them on both aftificals, cut bait and live pin fish. The water is still churned up, but will be clearing in the coming days. I was able to go out with my "new" neighbor and put him on a snook of a lifetime. Here's Dennis with trophy for our waters, in the mid 40" range... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Slam & Some...

A good time with the Villages team of Lauren, Dan and Big Fish Bob. Our day began on the outgoing tide and securing a fine catch of red fish, plus a snook on the first cast. We left this inshore scene and made our way out to 12ft of water. We set up shop on some hard bottom and had some fantastic mangrove snapper and grouper action. The action was fast and furious for over and hour, and Lauren actually turned a keeper gag on light 10lb test tackle. We finished the day with a trout to complete the slam and I thank you all... Capt. Dan
