On the Flats...

Back to the inshore scene today with a couple day break, due to high winds and small craft advisory's. We had a beautiful day on the flats today though; with Bill, Jerry and Vern and the team did outstanding. We targeted trout on the shallow kelp grass patches with DOA deadly combos and the trout action was quite good. Every drift we would pick up a couple keepers and in just a couple hours, the guys had fifteen beautiful trout in the cooler. A couple bonus mackerel and a tasty flounder were added to the mix and as always; I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Offshore Crystal River...

A really nice day offshore Crystal River with Shane and Bart on board and in two stops; they had a great catch. I made a run to the South today in the 28ft range and did some bottom fishing. It was two grassy to troll, so bottom fishing was going to be the plan. The grouper were slamming both live and dead baits and in a short time, the team had their four gags. i changed over to live shrimp on knocker rigs and we began catching a nice variety. Mangrove snapper, hog fish, grunts and Spanish mackerel kept us busy for the afternoon and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan

Not the forecast the "weather man" originally predicted, but Dave, Steve and Bud were game and we gave it a try. Running down the river and looking at the cooling towers at the power plant; "which is a great weather station". The cooling towers were layed over at 90 deg, which means ROUGH conditions. Grouper was on the menu, so I had to get creative on the real in close spots to make it happen. The team and I jumped around from spot to spot picking up one here and there, but it was no easy task. We did finish with a nice catch all on live pin fish and I thank you all for for the good time... Capt. Dan

A great day at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my good friends Capt. Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt and Jonathan Hamilton fishing the Sheppard party and my team was terrific. The day began targeting red fish and we caught a couple lower slot sized fish and numerous little guys right away. The crowds were bad on all the points from the holiday weekend traffic; so we ran to the rocks for some bend the rod fishing. Great action with live shrimp on Hank Brown jig heads and the variety of species was perfect. We pulled anchor at 12:30 and myself and the team prepared an outstanding shore lunch. Thank you all for the great day and look forward to seeing you next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inside and Out...

Another fine day off Crystal River with Christy and Andy and the husband and wife team did outstanding. We began the day running to some shallow ledges in the 11ft range and sent down the pin fish. The team caught their limit on just a couple stops and a mix of other species as well while on the rocks. I had a red fish request, so I made the run back inshore and we found a pair of slot sized red fish and some little ones to end our day. I always enjoy our days together and thank you both for the great day... Capt. Dan

The Rocks...

Dan and Jordan were on board again for day two out of the Plantation on Crystal River and it was a good one. The father and son team caught a beautiful limit of gag grouper using live pin fish on the shallow rock piles. We fished the 10ft range and did quite well. A mixed bag of other species also came on board using live shrimp on Hank Brown jig heads. That's always a blast and you never know what the next drop will bring. I thank you both for two very memorable days and I look forward to seeing you guys again soon... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Reds and Mix...

What a day for the red fish in Homosassa. The bite was spectacular today for my team and Donna, Chris and Tony did outstanding. I picked up the group from their home on the Homosassa River and we hit the points on the outer keys for the red fish. Every point we fished today produced red fish and free lined live shrimp under a DOA deadly combo corks worked beautifully. With plenty of red fish action under our belts, I ran to a couple shallow rocks and added a nice variety of grouper, grunts, mackerel and snapper to fill out our charter. A perfect day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

What a perfect day to run to the grouper grounds and Marilyn and David had a great day. We left from the Plantation on Crystal River, grabbed our live bait and made our run to 20ft of water. The gags were waiting and a combination of live pin fish and cut baits did the trick for the grouper. The team did a perfect job of bringing the grouper to the boat and added a nice variety of other species to fill out the day. It was a hot one though, so we called it a day after noon and we headed back to the dock. An absolute perfect day and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan

On the Rocks...

A great family on board for today's Saturday charter and Mitchell, Dave and Eric had a blast. We left from Pete's Pier Marina just after 8am and made our run to the trout grounds to start the day. The wind wind up a bit out of the East which made for some fast drifting; but we did land quite a few under sized trout and some keepers while giving it a try. With the choppy conditions though, I knew a best bet was anchoring up on the shallow rocks and having some fun bending the rod. The team stayed busy with the usual mix of species and once again just a live shrimp on a knocker rig was the bait of choice. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to seeing you all again soon... Capt. Dan

What a great day inshore with Steve, Chris and Scott and these gentlemen had an outstanding day. We spent the morning hours targeting trout and made some long drifts in the 9ft range over good grass patches. Bourbon colored MirrOlure Lil' Johns were the baits of the day and some good quality trout were caught as well. To end the day, we made a couple stops on the shallow rocks and added a little mix. A wonderful day and I thank you all for the excellent day.... Capt. Dan
