Reds, Gags, Mango's & Macks..

We had another nice variety catch on today's trip with Tony, Ray and Rusty. Our day began on the incoming tide and the team picked up a couple fine red fish. We left the inside as it was smoldering hot, and ran offshore a bit. We had some terrific grouper action on live pin fish and turned a couple nice keepers as well. The guys released numerous fish in the 22" - 23 3/4" range, which is a good sight to see. A mix of grunts, mango's and mackerel filled out the day and I thank you all... Capt. Dan

Sugarmill Gang...

Always a blast with Bill, Jerry and Roland. These guys love to fish and it sure shows. We had a terrific day on red fish with live shrimp on the points and fun on the rock piles. The rocks produced lots of fine mangrove snapper, grunts, grouper and Spanish mackerel. Live shrimp on a Hank Brown, did the trick. I thank you all and I always look forward to next time... Capt. Crystal River Mix...

A fun day with Jim on board and he came solo, for a great first time experience. Jim and I began our day on the outgoing tide, catching a couple snook and a fine slot red fish to bend the rod. I didn't have a bunch of tide to work with, but we made it happen. For the rest of our day we did the rock pile game and did well on mangrove snapper and a keeper gag. A nice variety and I thank you Jim... Capt. Dan

1/2 day on the Rocks...

Mr. Dan and his grandson Alek joined me today for a day on the big pond. Today's plan with the tides being what they were, was to fish the rock piles for snapper, grunts and what ever else we could find. Well, the snapper bite was great and the guys free lined live shrimp for their success. I ran a bit deeper to try a grouper ledge and we got broke off, caught a couple shorts and Alek turned a beautiful keeper. The gulf soon got still with nothing happening and the heat was on, so we called it a day. I thank you both and great job... Capt. Dan

Seafood Sampler...

A beautiful day with a fun team again with Ann, Lauren, Kayle and Brandon being my guests. We had a ball on the rock piles catching a mix of trout, grunts, snapper, grouper, etc... on live shrimp. The action is usually just about every drop and with young anglers on board, there's nothing better. The tide turned around noon, and we finished up our day on the mangrove points finding a couple red fish. I thank you all and I can't wait until next time... Capt. Dan

A little mix of rock jumping and inside redfishing with Mr. Clell on board. He and I left from the Plantation on Crystal River and made run to about 8ft of water and sent down some live shrimp on Hank Brown jig heads. We did well with a fine limit of snapper, plus some grunts, macks and released a couple small gags. The turned just before noon, so we hit the points and found a couple reds. The redfish action wasn't quite as hot as yesterday, but we did Ok with a couple keepers and a whopper over-slot. Always a fun time with you and here's Clell's largest red fish to date... Capt. Dan

Settin' The Hook Team...

What a day to start the week and the Settin' the Hook ladies team had an awesome Crystal River charter. I had the pleasure of having Olivia, Ann and Michelle on board with some fantastic action. Every day on the water is a great day, but some are more special than others and today was exceptional. The red fish action was so great, and a combination of live pinfish and live shrimp kept us busy. We also had some bonus species of trout, snapper, sheepshead etc.. to fill out our day. I thank you all and congratulations on a terrific day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

What a great day today with Steve and Billy on board and we ran offshore, where we left them biting yesterday. I got the boat positioned in about 18ft of water and the team sent down some live shrimp. We fished about an hour and a half and we had on stop action with snook, red fish, mangrove snapper, trout, grunts and some gag grouper. A couple of the species were surprises and the abundance of trout offshore, is quite interesting. I believe the hot water temperature sends some of the inshore shore species offshore for comfort and it's always an adventure on the big pond... Capt. Dan

Hot Homosassa Reds...

The summer heat didn't give us break today and it was a toasty one on the big pond. I had the pleasure of having the Athens family on board and we spent the mornings incoming tide red fishing. I had to move around a bit to find them, but we eventually did. Live shrimp in the mullet schools did the trick and we spent the afternoon rock pile jumping. On the rocks, we had good action with mango's, grunts, small gags, mackerel, lady fish and jacks. Pretty steady action and it's always fun to put a bend in the rod. This was my last trip before I head out to Wyoming, so stay tuned for some fishing updates from the Wild West..... Capt. Dan
