Snookin"....
Jim and I got a super early start today and we had some luck on some river tarpon at daylight. Him and I found some rolling fish and we each jumped one on fly and spin tackle. That was short lived though as the sun came up and we soon enough ran back in the creeks for some snook action. The snook were biting well and we had a double digit day on glow colored DOA jerk baits. A fun day but I wish this wind would go away... Capt. Dan
Homosassa Woods...
Today was day three of our three day Homosassa Tarpon trip and unfortunately the weather just wasn't letting us make it happen. We tried to get to the flats, but soon as me made it out there we were taking waves over the bow. I had Tom along for this trip and I said lets get back in the woods to save the day and catch a few. Well, we did just that and him and I caught and released some nice red fish and snook on DOA jerkbaits. It saved the trip and I hope for sure we have better weather next time.... Capt. Dan
Crystal River Releasing Snook...
The rain got us today, but we had some fun before we got wet. I had the Weeks family on board and they had a ball. We started the trip putting a couple nice trout on ice and quality fish as well. I knew we didn't have a bunch of time before the weather hit us, so there was enough tide to run inshore and let the team all catch there first snook. The snook action was great and everyone caught a couple. The rain chased us in and we had a fun one. I thank you all and here's Em with her first snook... Capt. Dan
Last day Snook...
Well today was my last day of the spring 2021 snook season as I have to do treatment tomorrow and the season ends Friday. Terry and Corey were my guest and a fine catch was had. Offshore trout filled out our morning and they were fired up. Lots of action with under sized fish, plus some real quality keepers. On the inside, the snook bite was superb and they kept us busy for the afternoon. I thank you both and everyone for a very successful snook season.... Capt. Dan. I'll be back on the water next week.
Triple Limit...
We sealed the deal on the big three today for our inshore slam of trout, red fish and snook. Brian and Corey were my team and they did really well. A nice trout limit began our day and on the inside, we found our reds and snooks. The red fish were on and we caught and released about 6 nice slot fish to wrap up our slam. I thank you both and great job... Capt. Dan
Monday Trout & Snook...
A great start to the week with the Sans team on board. Tony, Steve and Ray did well as we stared the day jigging up some trout. Watermelon colored Lil' johns did the job on the trout and we soon enough headed back inshore for a couple snook. The snook were a little tricky today and it definitely took some work to get them going. We did though and everyone has a snook dinner. A great day and I thank you all... Capt. Dan
Hot Homosassa...
A couple good days in Homosassa with the West party and for breezy conditions we did well. Thursday and Friday both consisted of some tough fishing, but my teams did great. We did well on trout and each trip produced a keeper snook. A fine shore lunch was included by myself and fellow guides Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, John Hamilton and Mike Baize. We always fish as a great team and I thank you all... Capt. Dan
Afternoon Giant...
What an afternoon trip with my good buddy JC. I had a charter scheduled, but due to the morning rains and traveling from the Tampa area it was just to much of a gamble so we cancelled. So just for fun, JC and I did a late take off and did awesome. We fished a couple areas I've been wanting to try and they paid off. Some real quality snook and a bonus giant well over 40". JC actually caught that fish and what a trophy to remember. They don't get much bigger inshore and awesome job my man.... Capt. Dan
Crystal River Groupers and Snook...
A super fun day with Mishel and Earl and we did something a bit different. We did some trolling and checked on the grouper population for the start of our trip. Well, I assure you they are there and we caught several before we ran inshore and tackled some snook. Rapala F18 plugs did the trick on the gags. The afternoon snook action was good as well, and we released about a dozen for the afternoon hours. I thank you both and I'll see you again during grouper season... Capt. Dan
Whopper Snook....
Big snook of the season for the Short family on board and Jeanne landed a whopper. Today's trip was good as we had a nice mix of trout, snook and a red fish. The highlight though, was Jeanne doing a heck of a job turning and landing a snook of a lifetime. She kept it out of the mangroves and when we put her on the scale, it read 22lbs and over 40". A true trophy and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan
