Day two of the Goodman party out of the Best Western on Crystal River and the bite was really on today. Capt. Randy Hodges was the second boat and the tide was right for tackling red fish. The red fish either showed up or turned on, but I can tell you this - it was good. Double digit red fish for both boats and free lined live shrimp was the bait of choice. With a limit of red fish, we ran offshore and added some trout, sea bass and flounder to our catch. A great day and it was a pleasure fishing you all the last couple days. Here's the group with an excellent Crystal River catch... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout & Reds....

A fun crew on board today out of the Best Western resort on Crystal River and Bill and Brian joined me for the day. I picked the guys up from the dock at 8am and we made our way south, with a great incoming tide. We hit a couple red fish points to the south, found a keeper and a few under slot ones; before we ran offshore and jigged up some trout. I reached the 8ft depth range and worked the spotty bottom areas with MirrOlure Lil' Johns for our trout. While running home, I spotted a nice triple tail on a crab bouy, but the hooked pulled when I set it " my fault on that one".... A fun time with some great guys and I look forward to fishing with your group tomorrow... Capt. Dan

Crystal River 1/2 Day Trout...

A fun group on board from the Villages and Phil, Jack and Bob go to experience fishing Crystal River for the first time. Some of the guys had never saltwater fished in our area, and it was a treat to show them around. To fish as much time as possible, we drifted the flats just off the Gomez rocks area and found some nice keeper trout. Root beer Lil' Johns were the baits of the day, but the bite wasn't hot and heavy. I had a great morning with you guys and enjoy the fresh trout fillets... Capt. Dan

It isn't very often I wish for wind, but we sure could have used a little today. Richard, Tommy and Adam were on board with me today out of Crystal River and we made our way back offshore. "NOT" a ripple on the big pond made it a bit tough to cover some water, but we moved around little by little and did well. Several trout, sea bass, grouper, flounder, sharks and lady fish filled out out drifts and we had plenty of action. Once again the root beer Lil' Johns did their job on 1/8th oz jig heads. We released another fine gag grouper and had a hefty cobia interested on a jerk bait, but wouldn't commit. I thank you all for the fun time and look forward to seeing you in the future... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Offshore Trout...

Happy Cinco de Mayo, and what a great day it was. I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my great friend Capt. Mark Zorn and we had the pleasure of fishing the Craft party. Calm seas and a light breeze made for ideal conditions drifting offshore to find some trout. We teamed up and drifted the spotty bottom areas West of Homosassa in the 8ft range and had some great action. Both boats had a fine limit of trout, several sea bass and even caught and released some keeper sized gags. Root beer MirrOlure Lil' Johns were the baits today and I can't thank you all enough for the great time. Here's the gang with today's catch... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Heavy Rain....

Well, we did make it out today and it was definitely some challenging conditions. The Homosassa Fishing Club anglers are tough for sure, and they we willing to give it their all. High winds, on and off rain and a chilly 64 degrees, " yes that's extremely cool for May" was the forecast. I had Stu, Ryland and John on board and I helped the guys find a couple keeper trout. We didn't venture to far off and basically made a series of drifts on the South side of St. Martins Keys. I didn't bring my camera due to the weather, but we totaled three keeper trout and a mack for a couple hours of fishing. As we pulled up to the dock at the end of the day, the sun came out and we all said " finally, there it is". Still, we had a fun time with some good laughs and I appreciate you all for hanging in there. Myself and all the other guides look forward to your next visit and better weather... Capt. Dan

Homosassa On & Off Rain...

The team wasn't sure if we were going to get today in, but the fish gods gave us a break and we made it happen. I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my good friends Capts. Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, Jonathan Hamilton, Clay Shidler and Zach Hoffman and we fished the Scott party. It was on and off rain all day and we sure got wet. The gang came all the way from Georgia and we wanted to give it our all our efforts to find some fish. All the boats did a great job finding some trout and red fish and we did surprisingly well. I hope we can get tomorrow in with rain in the forecast and here's my crew with some of today's trout... Capt. Dan
