Halloween Gags...

The grouper were on the feed this morning on the outgoing tide and today's team did great. Bobby and Fred were my guests today and trolling gags was the name of the game. It seems the grass is bad one day and very fish-able the next. Well today, is was fish-able and very productive. In just a couple hours, the guys caught four beautiful grouper on Rapala CD 14 trolling plugs. We added a couple trout to the mix, but the inshore scene was a little slow; and wrapped up the day. A fun time and I look forward to fishing with you all again soon... Capt. Dan

Full Moon Gags...

Definitely not the hot bite like yesterdays trip, but we hung in there and found a couple gags. I think I was cursed with the full moon blues today and it was a VERY slow start for the day. I had the Dulane family on board and we jumped around a lot and worked for the bites we had. We caught several short grouper and finally at the end of the day, a couple good ones got happy. We worked for them, but I thank you all for your patience and hanging in there. I look forward to next time and enjoy the grouper dinners... Capt. Dan

Offshore Crystal River...

A really nice day offshore Crystal River with Shane and Bart on board and in two stops; they had a great catch. I made a run to the South today in the 28ft range and did some bottom fishing. It was two grassy to troll, so bottom fishing was going to be the plan. The grouper were slamming both live and dead baits and in a short time, the team had their four gags. i changed over to live shrimp on knocker rigs and we began catching a nice variety. Mangrove snapper, hog fish, grunts and Spanish mackerel kept us busy for the afternoon and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan

We had a couple hours of decent weather for the morning hours, but it hit 2nd gear and got rough. The wind unfortunately cut the grouper fishing short for us today, but not before the Dulane family caught some nice grouper. I was trolling once again and the floating grass made it quite frustrating. Yesterday, there really wasn't an issue with it; but today it was challenging. We fought through it though and this fun family did well. Plenty of grouper dinner for them and I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Gags...

Day two for the Homosassa Fishing Clubs annual Jamboree and I has the pleasure of having the Stribling team on board. Grouper is what they wanted to target, so I made a run up North to some shallow ledges and trolled up a fantastic catch. We had to be back at the Club island for shore lunch just after noon; so it was a bit of a gamble. The grouper bite was excellent trolling Rapala CD 14's and we put the sixth fish in the box at 11am. A great couple days and a fun time with you all the for the annual Jamboree... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Reds & Gags...

Today was the Homosassa Fishing Clubs annual Jamboree and my guests today were Bert and Gordon. The team wanted to target red fish and grouper and luckily, I delivered. The red fish action was excellent on the outer points and cut lizard fish put a bend in the rods. On two points the team caught their limit and we were off to grouper land. The seas were perfect, so I made a run to the 25ft range and put out the Rapala x-rap 20's. We trolled over a couple different low profile rock piles and the team had four beautiful Homosassa gag grouper. A great trip and perfect weather; I thank you both for the fantastic day... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Gags & Trout...

After being as sick as a dog on Thursday and unfortunately cancelling my charter, I was back at it today. I had the West party at the Homosassa Fishing Club and we did a offshore, inshore combination. The trolling action was perfect for the grouper today and we caught our limit trolling Rapala Cd 14's. Our next stop was a couple trout drifts off St. Martins Key's and did well once again on DOA deadly combos. A beautiful October day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Variety...

We hit the big three on today's Crystal River charters with Buck, Norm and Larry on board. The day began free lining live shrimp around the rocky points and finding a couple red fish. The tide was dropping fast, so I didn't have to much time; but I'm glad we found a nice pair of keepers. Trout was the next plan and just drifting with DOA deadly combos outside the keys, produced several slot sized trout. For the last hour of the day, the team trolled up two nice gags on Rapala CD14's and we called it a day. I thank you all as always and look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Windy Homosassa....

Definitely not grouper weather for the next couple of days, so for plan B; it's trout time. A hard NE wind is going to be here for a couple days and make it difficult to go offshore. I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club fishing the Smith party with my great friends Capts. Rick Spratt, Mark Zorn and William Toney and despite the terrible wind, the trout bite was awesome. We all targeted the shallow flats just off the keys with DOA deadly combo rigs and did well. We basically made long drifts and picked up a couple keepers each drift. The conditions eventually got to us just after 1pm, and we all called it a day. Here's part of the teams catch and we thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Oct. 16th & 17th....

Two great days fishing the Euart party out of the Homosassa fishing club with the Captains teams of Zorn, Toney, Long and Spratt. The trout action was quite good in the kelp patches in 3ft of water off Homosassa Bay and glow DOA jerk baits did the trick. I did pick up a couple grouper on Saturday casting plugs on the shallow rocks and even had one rip the hooks right out of a Rapala f18 right next to the boat. Sunday was another good trout day and we wrapped up the afternoon with a fine Homosassa Shore Lunch. Always a great trip and we look froward to seeing you next time... Capt. Dan
