Crystal River Offshore...

It's definitely and offshore game right now with the chilly water temperature. I've caught a couple trout and some snapper in the river on my last two trips, but it's been slow. Today's condition's though were ideal to go offshore and Phil was in town for his annual sheepshead trip. The sheepshead bite was excellent on all the locations we fished and just a live shrimp on a knocker rig did the trick. The big females have moved in and we had a couple right at 10lbs. A truly excellent day and I thank you bud for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Magic Carpet Ride...

I don't get to many nice days to go exploring, because I'm generally on the water with charters. I usually get the nasty weather days for time off and this is what happened for me today. My great friend Capt. Clay Shidler has a go devil duck hunting boat and with us both off the water due to the weather he said "let's go for a ride you won't forget". Well I'll say this, he was absolutely right! I've been in air boats before which are fun, but very limited once you shut down for fishing purposes. This ride was amazing from jumping exposed mud flats, rock bars and going just about ANY WHERE you wanted to go. The boat was very fish able and poled in a mere couple inches of water for mobility. It was definitely exciting to see much of the terrain I fish in a such an extreme low tide and always gives someone, including myself; a better appreciation for the bottom terrain we generally don't get to see much of the year. Who knows, I may just have one some day. I thank you Clay for the magic carpet ride and really look forward to doing this again in the future.

Sight Casting Reds...

A really great 1/2 day trip for this super bowl Sunday and Kyle and Chris had a blast. We began the trip today jigging some trout along the rock bars and picked up a pair of keepers to start the day. That was it though for the trout action and we moved around quite a bit, but there were no more to be found. The gusty South wind had the tide rolling in very good and we had plenty of water to hit the outer creeks and find some red fish. We staked out in a rocky cove pocket and were watching the red fish swim with the mullet school. We pitched a free lined a live shrimp and had to wait for them to settle; but the guys soon landed a couple beautiful over slot fish to end the day. I thank you both for the great time and look forward to seeing you again... Capt. Dan
