Another great day for my favorite winter time special - sheepshead and trout. Bob and Mike were on board and the team had a ball. We began the day targeting sheepshead, while using live shrimp on knocker rigs. The sheepshead cooperated quite well, but a big surprise for me today was catching a couple red fish a ways offshore. One red fish was an under slot and the other was a keeper. Our next stop was jigging some trout and on just a couple drifts, the guys caught some fine trout to finish up our day. I thank you both for the awesome time and I always look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Amerigas Trip...

Definitely the coldest trip of the year so far, but the fising was great. Ice on the boat this morning and I was a bit worried, especially after the sudden cold spell.  However, I had the pleasure of fishing the Amerigas corporate group trip out of the Plantation on Crystal River and my team won top honors. Ed, Toney and Don were on board and the sheepshead and trout bite was excellent. The team bundled up, fished hard and had a fantastic catch to show for their efforts. I thank you all for the excellent day and I do hope your group comes back next year, for another fun day... Capt. Dan

It was a windy one today for us out of Crystal River and myself and fellow Captains Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, William Toney, Zach Hoffman, Randy Hodges and Jeremiah Carlucchi fished a great group for the organization Chrisite's, out of the Best Western. I had Tash, Shawn, Tom and John on board and with the conditions the way they were, I had to get creative on where to fish. I'm not a big fan of fishing the main river, so we eased along in the salt river and did quite well. The team and I just drifted live shrimp under a DOA deadly combo corks and caught several slot sized trout, plus a pair of pompano. We pulled anchor right at 1pm and then used the summer kitchens at the Best Western to prepare a fine shore lunch. A great meal and fun fishing; I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Heavy Weight Sheeps...

Another fantastic day on the sheepshead grounds with Mike, Tim and Mike and these gentlemen did great. We eased along spot to spot and picked up a couple sheepshead on each location we fished. The steady action though, was the gag grouper. My goodness, we must have caught over hundred grouper today. Most were small ones, but extremely aggressive. Live shrimp on knocker rigs were the ticket and we also added a couple trout to the catch to end the day. Tim had big fish honors with one almost 10lbs and I thank you all for the fun day... Capt. Out of Retirement....

Yes, it sure felt good to be back on the water and out of retirement." Kidding of course, but I generally can only make it about three days off the water before I get the itch." Today though, the winds calmed and I knew the sheepshead action would be in full swing. I had Clell and Lee on board and with gulf water temperatures below 60 degrees, the sheepshead are a best bet. We had an out standing day with a great mix of trout, numerous and numerous grouper and several sheepshead to fill out the day. A fun time with you both as always and I look forward to next time... Cold Front Blues...

Well, we've finally received what we're used to this time of year. The recent cold front has kicked up the winds, blew out the water and it looks and feels like winter outside. I've had to cancel the last four days due to the conditions. However, soon as it get's favorable for making it out, I'll be back and the sheepshead should really begin biting well. In the mean time, I've been tying flies, organizing tackle and watching the marine forecast. Hope to see you all soon.... Capt. Dan

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone and what a great way to kick off the new year. It was day two at the Homosassa Fishing club with the Waits party and Bo, Caroline and Robert were my anglers. We had a 1pm shore lunch on schedule and also to be back to catch some football games; so I kept it simple and drifted the shallow hard bottom areas off the keys for trout. The team was loaded with DOA glow jerk baits and with the approaching front, the trout bite was excellent. Sometimes, I really think the fish can sense when we're having a major weather change and they feed hard before it arrives. We had a fine limit of trout and made an outstanding shore-lunch to end the day. Thank you all for starting my 2016 year with such a great charter and I look forward to seeing you next time... Capt. 2015 Closing Day...

What a way to end the 2015 year. This year has been fantastic and for all of you that have fished with me and follow my daily posts, I thank you. For the last day of 2015, I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my great friends Capts. Mark Zorn, William Toney and Rick Spratt fishing the Waits party. All of us today did well on the continuing hot trout bite and some other bonus fish such as pompano, sea bass, jacks and mackerel filled out our day as well. It looks like we have one or two more days of nice weather and next week may be windy for the beginning of the week. I wish you all a Happy New Year and great job today team... Capt. Dan
