Another good one offshore Crystal River with Gil and Tommy and the guys had quite the day. We stopped inshore on the grass flats and loaded the live-well with fresh live pin fish. The next stop though, was 30ft and we had perfect conditions to do so. We arrived at our destination and the day was made. The guys had to work for the keepers, as we released numerous 22"-23" gags; but we eventually got'em - plus a limit of mangrove snapper. A beautiful day on the gulf and I look forward to next time... A deep run today out to close to 40ft with Brian, Brad and Robert and these gentlemen had a killer day. The gulf was absolutely flat calm and we hammered down offshore. Our first drop was very productive. Big mangrove snapper and a couple keeper gags greeted us right away, plus a couple mackerel too. We moved around a couple times, but no more keeper grouper - the big snapper kept us busy though. With a good catch, we ran inshore, stopped on a key and caught a fine red fish and snook to wrap up an outstanding day. Thank you all so much and I really look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
Well, today was the first day I gave trolling for grouper a try for the 2016 season. Ron, Dick and Larry were with me for the day and we did well. We started the day using Rapala x-rap 20's and immediately hooked up. The guys had a couple doubles and although most were on the short side, we did land a nice keeper gag. We left the grouper trolling, made a quick stop at a rock pile for some snapper and grunts; then finished the day inshore. Each of the guys caught a fine slot red fish, plus a couple shorties to wrap up the day. A fun time and I look forward to next time. Here's Dick with his first keeper gag grouper.. Capt. Dan
It was day two with Chris and Scott on board and we just about duplicated yesterday's Crystal River charter. The guys were up for the challenge again, so we targeted all three species throughout the day. Red fish in the morning on the incoming tide, mid day trout on the flats with cork rigs; then plugging the creeks for a back country snook. The plan came together beautifully and here's Chris with a hefty, August full moon red fish... Capt. Dan
