Macks are Back...

You know Spring has sprung, when the Spanish mackerel are here and it was good today. I had Joe, Rich and Larry on board for the day and we had a nice mix. We began the day using cork rigs off the bars in Crystal Bay and did good. The guys caught a dozen nice trout on DOA deadly combos, before we anchored up and chummed in the macks. The macks were our next stop and they were on. Free lined shrimp in the chum slick did the trick and a couple other surprises bent the rod as well. I really enjoyed the day with you all and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout & Reds...

The beautiful weather continues here on the Nature Coast and the Taylor family had a blast. We spent the morning hours tackling some trout, but the bite was slow for us today. Quite a bit of time in between trout bites, but we did manage five nice keepers for the morning hours. However though, the afternoon red fish bite was excellent. Andrew had the hot rod and caught over twenty red fish on one point and did great. Free lined live shrimp under a DOA deadly combo cork did the trick for the red fish. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Trout & Reds...

This is the weather we live for here in Florida! I had the pleasure of fishing Joe and Joanne out of Macrae's on the Homosassa River and they did great. We fished both the near shore rock piles and the skinny water for the trout today. DOA glow jerk bats and bourbon MirrOLure Lil' Johns were the trout flavors of the day. The tide made pretty good water later in the day and we caught a few red fish casting soft plastics along the shorelines. I thank you both for the great time and I always look forward to our days on the water... Capt. Dan

Skinny Water Trout...

We fished the shallow area's today with Catchy and Shane on board and had a great catch of trout. I met the couple at Pete's Pier, ran south and worked the hard bottom areas from Mangrove Pt. to St. Martins Keys. We were armed with DOA glow jerk baits and did well. The bites weren't non stop; but steady enough to make a couple drifts and catch a few. A beautiful spring day and I thank you both for the great day... Capt. Dan

An awesome day with my brother and friends and its been close to five years since we fished together. So for today, we made the run offshore and had a great mixed bag. From trout, grouper, hog fish, Spanish mackerel, etc... we had over 10 different species. The best part of the day was the catch and release gag grouper action and we caught some fine sized gags we took pictures of; before we sent them home. A truly picture perfect day offshore and I thank all you guys for the great day... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Trout...

An excellent day two at the Homosassa Fishing Club and my team today did excellent on the trout. We left the club dock at 8am and made a couple drifts off the keys, before our noon shore lunch. We were armed with DOA glow jerk baits and in just a couple drifts; we caught a dozen fine Homosasassa trout. All the boats on the party did equally well and it was a fun two days fishing the Sheppard party. I thank you all for the great time and here's my crew with their catch... Capt. Dan

South Trout...

A fun day at the Homosassa Fishing Club fishing the Sheppard party and I had the pleasure of having Tom, Kaitlyn and Margret for the day. This young crew was ready and even though the wind was howling; we caught some fine trout. I covered from the bars out side the Little Homosassa, to Chazz Pt. We caught a couple on each area, but the choppy conditions gave us quite a challenge. DOA deadly combos and DOA glow jerk baits were the baits for the day. Here's my team from today and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A great day and a nice mixed bag with Bill, Stu and Jim out of Crystal River. The team and I left the dock from Pete's Pier Marina just after 8am and we headed to the sheepshead grounds. As you all know, I really enjoy taking my clients sheespehad fishing and it's definitely something special you can't do all year. However, with the water warming, the season is almost over and we're finishing it off with a couple more fine catches. Today was fantastic with good action of sheepshead, sea bass and a few bonus gag grouper. To end with the day, we jigged a couple rock bars and added a couple trout to the mix. I thank you all for the great day and enjoy all the fillets... Capt. Dan

Sheep's Winding Down...

Another beautiful day offshore Crystal River with Clell and Richard and we tackled some more sheepshead as the season slows. I met the guys at 9am and we ran down the river with foggy conditions. We caught a couple trout to get the day going as the fog lifted and put a nice keeper in the box, before we headed West. We anchored up on a couple different ledges and caught some fine sized sheepshead and the first Spanish Mackerel of the season. The gulfs warming every day and soon the inshore action will be excellent. Thank you both for the good time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Group Trip...

A fun day with my great friend Capt. Clay Shidler and we fished a nice group of gentlemen out of the Plantation on Crystal River today. We fished inshore today for trout and we all caught fish. We covered ground from the Salt river area, oyster bars and the near shore rock piles and found trout. Clay had the hot bite though, in the Salt River area free lining shrimp under corks and that was the hot technique on the day. My team caught quite a few on glow DOA jerk baits and MirrOlure Lil' Johns, but mostly shorts for us today. A nice surprise pompano was added to the mix again and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan
