Spring Trout...

Another beautiful day on the big pond with Lauren, Gary and Dan and the team had an excellent trip. I began the day on the 2.3 ft tide we had in the morning in hopes of red fishing, but it was NOT happening. After several stops and nothing, we headed to the flats and got on the trout. We fished DOA jerk baits in the shallow areas and MirrOlure Lil' Johns a bit offshore in the 7ft range. The guys caught a little variety with some grouper, sea bass and mackerel to fill out the afternoon. I really enjoy my days with you all and congratulations on a fine catch... Capt. Dan

Spring Trout & Reds...

A great spring day with Ron, Malcolm and Jeff on board and we did great on the trout and red fish. The steady SW wind we had all day, pushed the water in and we had a decent tide most of the day. Red fish were our first order and we caught some nice keepers and a beast of an over slot to start the day. The tide starting getting a bit low around 11am, so we changed gears and began targeting trout. DOA glow jerk baits delivered and did awesome. The team brought home a fine catch of trout and really did well despite the windy conditions. Thank you all as always for the great time...  Capt. Dan

A fun day and a good variety with my great friends Mishel and Earl out of the Plantation on Crystal River. We did a little mix today of trolling for grouper and back country red fish and trout. The grouper bite was off a bit, but we caught a nice 25" gag that posed for a quick photo before we sent her home. Next up on the incoming tide, we free lined some shrimp on the rocky points and did well on the red fish and trout. We released seven reds, a couple trout and another great day out of Crystal River was in the books. I always enjoy my days with you both and thank you for fun time... Capt. Dan

We covered the inside and out spectrum with Rick and Wannie on board today and the guys had a blast. I began the day where we left the trout yesterday and the bite was great. We drifted the shallow hard bottom area's with DOA jerk baits and did very well. The fish were concentrated on the yellow hard bottom area's and in a couple hours we had fifteen fine trout in the box. Sheepshead were the next request, so I made a run to some ledges and did well to finish up the day. A really fun time, I thank you both and hope to see you soon... Capt. Dan

Shallow Trout...

The trout bite was on for us today with my good friend Casey on board and we had a great morning. We left the dock at 8:30 am and made our way out, The Salt River. I made a quick run South and in no time, we were doubled up on trout. Once again, my favorite shallow water trout bait - the DOA cal jerk bait did the trick. In just a couple drifts we had ten fine keepers in the box and we called it a day; to go grab lunch at Lollygaggers. Always a fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Inshore Mix...

Spring is definitely on its way and what a great day with Dean, Larry and John from the Villages on board. We stayed inshore today and left the sheepshead alone and concentrated on trout and red fish. We began just off the keys with jerk baits and did well picking up 7 nice trout. Our next stop was to try the spotty bottom area's in 7ft of water and the team did equally well and had a mix of pompano, mackerel, sea bass and grouper. To end our day, the tide was rolling in great and we free lined some live shrimp to tackle some fine red fish. A great day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Always a fun day with Lee on board and for today's Crystal River charter, he brought his Uncle Bob along for the day. We began our day leaving from the Plantation on Crystal River and we made our way to the sheepshead grounds. We anchored and on one structure, we had a fantastic catch of sheepshead. The guys brought in ten fine sheepshead and we then gave our luck tackling some trout. We picked up a couple real nice fish right away, but then the lady fish moved in on us and it made getting to the trout impossible. Still, we had a great time and I look forward to our next trip... Crystal River Hot Sheep's...

What a great day on the sheepshead with Buck and Norm and they really enjoyed their day. I have fished these gentlemen a couple times over the years and this trip was their first experience targeting sheepshead. We anchored on a couple different structures and did very well. The guys boated their fifteen keepers and we also added some trout and a red fish to the mix throughout the day. I thank you both for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

2016 Trout Masters...

Another great time at the Trout Masters tournament and I teamed up with my dear friend Capt. Clay Shidler. The day was absolutely fantastic and we caught and released over fifty keeper trout, with most of them over the 18" mark. We used a mix of DOA jerk baits, Unfair lures plugs and MirrOlure Lil' Johns. It definitely warmed up to a "hint of spring" is on the way, and the fishing is only going to get better. The great trout catcher Dr. Cliff Roseborough took first place, while Clay and I took second. A great time and I hope we can do it again next year... Capt. Dan

The wind swapped out of the East today and allowed us to go offshore again, in search of sheepshead. John, Wayne and Bill were my guest today and in just two drops, the guys had an excellent catch of sheepshead. We kept five fish person then moved on to jigging some trout. I loaded the rods with MirrOlure Lil' Johns and in a couple drifts, the team had some good trout action. A beautiful day and I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan
