Yes folks, the East wind returned today and it was a 15mph breeze all DAY.... I had the pleasure of having the Worthington family on board and even though the inshore trout bite hasn't been to good, today we did quite well. We basically tucked up against the outer keys and made short drifts with DOA deadly combos and had a great catch of trout. The old stand by, the DOA glow shrimp was by far the top producer for us today. We also picked up a fine Spanish mackerel and Jeff brought in a beautiful red fish to end the day. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next time.... Capt. Dan
I had the pleasure of fishing the Calhoun party today at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my great friends Capt. Mark Zorn and Jody Johnson. Jack and Jeff were my guests and today began doing some offshore jigging for trout. We mad a couple drifts and had a few keepers, but "holy mackerel" the lady fish were thick as I've ever seen. Lady fish are fun, but after a couple hundred; it makes it a challenge to get down to the trout. Bourbon colored Lil' Johns and DOA root beer holographic shrimp were the baits for our offshore jigging mix. Around noon, we pulled up to the club island and prepared a fine shore lunch and ended the day spoon feeding a fine red fish to end the day. Thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
Day two with Bill on board and he was solo with me for the day and his guests fished with my good friend Capt. Randy Hodges. Both boats fished as a team and we made the run to about 8ft of water and immediately hooked up with trout. On just two drifts, Bill and I had seven keeper trout before the North wind got out of control and chased us inshore. The red fishing was fair, with several fish in the 17" range and one beautiful mid slot fish to cap off the day. I thank you for the fun day, a fun couple of days and we look forward to seeing you all in the future... Capt. Dan
The wind was howling today out of the North with the late cool front, but we hung in there and made the day. I had Bill and Stan on board for the day and even though the whitecaps were popping, we caught some fine trout and a couple red fish for the day. The guys and I used DOA glow jerk baits on the shallow hard bottom area's off the keys for the trout and free lined live shrimp under DOA deadly combo corks for the trout. A windy day and we definitely had to work for them; but we had a great time... Capt. Dan
