Another great day for my favorite winter time special - sheepshead and trout. Bob and Mike were on board and the team had a ball. We began the day targeting sheepshead, while using live shrimp on knocker rigs. The sheepshead cooperated quite well, but a big surprise for me today was catching a couple red fish a ways offshore. One red fish was an under slot and the other was a keeper. Our next stop was jigging some trout and on just a couple drifts, the guys caught some fine trout to finish up our day. I thank you both for the awesome time and I always look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
Definitely the coldest trip of the year so far, but the fising was great. Ice on the boat this morning and I was a bit worried, especially after the sudden cold spell. However, I had the pleasure of fishing the Amerigas corporate group trip out of the Plantation on Crystal River and my team won top honors. Ed, Toney and Don were on board and the sheepshead and trout bite was excellent. The team bundled up, fished hard and had a fantastic catch to show for their efforts. I thank you all for the excellent day and I do hope your group comes back next year, for another fun day... Capt. Dan
It was a windy one today for us out of Crystal River and myself and fellow Captains Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, William Toney, Zach Hoffman, Randy Hodges and Jeremiah Carlucchi fished a great group for the organization Chrisite's, out of the Best Western. I had Tash, Shawn, Tom and John on board and with the conditions the way they were, I had to get creative on where to fish. I'm not a big fan of fishing the main river, so we eased along in the salt river and did quite well. The team and I just drifted live shrimp under a DOA deadly combo corks and caught several slot sized trout, plus a pair of pompano. We pulled anchor right at 1pm and then used the summer kitchens at the Best Western to prepare a fine shore lunch. A great meal and fun fishing; I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan
Another fantastic day on the sheepshead grounds with Mike, Tim and Mike and these gentlemen did great. We eased along spot to spot and picked up a couple sheepshead on each location we fished. The steady action though, was the gag grouper. My goodness, we must have caught over hundred grouper today. Most were small ones, but extremely aggressive. Live shrimp on knocker rigs were the ticket and we also added a couple trout to the catch to end the day. Tim had big fish honors with one almost 10lbs and I thank you all for the fun day... Capt. Dan
