A fun day and a good variety with my great friends Mishel and Earl out of the Plantation on Crystal River. We did a little mix today of trolling for grouper and back country red fish and trout. The grouper bite was off a bit, but we caught a nice 25" gag that posed for a quick photo before we sent her home. Next up on the incoming tide, we free lined some shrimp on the rocky points and did well on the red fish and trout. We released seven reds, a couple trout and another great day out of Crystal River was in the books. I always enjoy my days with you both and thank you for fun time... Capt. Dan

Inshore Mix...

Spring is definitely on its way and what a great day with Dean, Larry and John from the Villages on board. We stayed inshore today and left the sheepshead alone and concentrated on trout and red fish. We began just off the keys with jerk baits and did well picking up 7 nice trout. Our next stop was to try the spotty bottom area's in 7ft of water and the team did equally well and had a mix of pompano, mackerel, sea bass and grouper. To end our day, the tide was rolling in great and we free lined some live shrimp to tackle some fine red fish. A great day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Hot Sheep's...

What a great day on the sheepshead with Buck and Norm and they really enjoyed their day. I have fished these gentlemen a couple times over the years and this trip was their first experience targeting sheepshead. We anchored on a couple different structures and did very well. The guys boated their fifteen keepers and we also added some trout and a red fish to the mix throughout the day. I thank you both for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A very beautiful day on the big pond before the approaching front tomorrow and Dan and Daryl had a ball. I just about did a mirror image to yesterdays charter and my plan worked out great. We made our sheepshead run in the morning, before the tide started running in hard. The guys boated some fine sheepshead for the morning hours and then we ran back in to the keys, to find some shallow water trout. The tide was getting right just before noon and we drifted the flats with DOA glow jerk baits and the trout cooperated nicely. To end the day, a couple red fish came on board with one making it in the slot and another good day out of Crystal River is in the books. Thank you both for the great day and congratulations on a fine catch... Capt. Dan

Rough & Tough...

Definitely good to be back at the office, but a tough one for us today. The gulf water temp has dropped considerably and it was around the 52 degree mark for the near shore waters. Also, the recent winds have muddied up the water, which is an added challenge as well. I had Wes and JP on board for the day and we gave it a try. We picked up a couple sheepshead, a trout and a red fish for our efforts. It was just a slow bite, but we had a good time and caught a few fish. I thank you both for hanging in there and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inshore...

A very fun day with Nick and Mary out of Crystal River and today's plan was staying inshore due to the wind being up a bit. The incoming tide was perfect this morning for both targeting trout and red fish and the action was good. DOA glow jerk baits over the rock bars produced the trout and free lined live shrimp in the mullet schools put us on the red fish. We kept ten trout and released all the slot red fish, just taking pictures of them. The wind eventually calmed enough to make it offshore some, but the big sheepshead did not want to play for us in the afternoon. However, the small gag grouper were on the feed and we caught plenty. A great day and I look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

"Chazz" Reds on Fly...

I canceled today's scheduled charter to go offshore sheepshead fishing with the forecast looking to rough to make it out. Not one to sit at home though, I contacted my good friend Cade to see if he wanted to hit the Chazz back country, and broaden my knowledge of the area. Cade knows this area incredibly well and it's always a treat to go on a boat ride with him. We sight fished about 10 red fish and a couple over slot ones on the fly rod. It's been over three years since we shared a boat together and I thank you for a great day. Here's one of my red fish I caught on the log rod, back in the "Chazz" swamp.... Capt. Dan

Birthday Catch & Release...

It was yours truly birthday today and I had a very fun day with my great clients and friends, Mishel and Earl. We did a catch and release trip today, so we left the trout and sheepshead alone and fished the back-country sight fishing red fish. The tide was ripping out all day and we had a bit of time to target the Ozello area. We caught a handful of reds, mostly under slot to just over the keeper sized. Free lined live shrimp was the bait of choice and also picked up a pompano and black drum. Just a fun day and we all caught a few fish to enjoy the day. Thank you for making my birthday a special day and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

It was day two today at the Homosassa Fishing Club fishing the Shelton party and with my great Homosassa Guides Association friends Capts. Mark Zorn, Fred Lyles, Jim Farrior and Rick Spratt we had a great day. My team was Reid, Bob and Joe and we had a fantastic morning trout fishing. We brought in 13 fine trout caught on glow jerk baits, before our early afternoon shore lunch. The other guides did good also with nice trout catches and some red fish. The lunch was a success and everybody had a great couple of days. He's the group shot and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Late Trip...

A late afternoon trip out of Homosassa today with the Shelton party and the team caught'em quick. We left the dock at 1:30 pm and fished until 4:30pm. I tied on some glow DOA jerk baits and on the very low tide, made a long drift on the flats off the keys. We picked up fourteen nice trout along and along, and we even made a quick stop and caught a couple red fish. A very busy afternoon trip and I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan
