One of those special days for us today when we hit the tides right and could do a little variety. For my Crystal River Charter today, I had Bear and Walt on board and the team hit it out of the park. The day began using DOA deadly combo cork rigs off the keys picking up some trout. The trout action was pretty good, but we had to leave them to hit the tide right for the grouper. On the big tides around the full moon time periods, you only have a short window to hit for the bite to be just right. Well, we hit a couple different locations and found some real nice sized gag grouper. Live baits were the ticket today for the grouper. With four grouper in the box and a couple hours of the day to go "with the incoming tide"; we hit the out side points and topped off the day with some fine red fish. I thank you both for a special day and look forward to doing it again in the future... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inshore...

Back to the inshore scene today with the Riley team and we had a blast. The wind was up out of the NE and we weren't able to go offshore, so we had a fun day red fishing and picking up a few trout. The team and I had to cover some ground to get on the red fish, but we soon found a nice little school and had some fantastic action. For almost 30 minutes, we caught one every cast and the team loved it. A great day to start off the first official day of fall and I thank you for the wonderful time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Gags & Reds...

A day for me to get creative on the grouper fishing, as it was howling pretty good right out of the West for some rough conditions. I had the Miller party on board out of the Plantation on Crystal River and grouper was on the menu. I was a bit worried with the rough conditions, so we took our time running to a depression I've caught some grouper trolling before. Well, as luck would have it; we anchored beautifully on the transition and sent down some live pin fish. The bite was really excellent and we went 4 for 11 on grouper bites, while hooking and loosing some hefty fish while doing so. The seas were rocking us around pretty good and to finish up the afternoon, we added a couple red fish to the day and were back at the Plantation just after 1pm. A very fun day and I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan

One of those special days today when the action was incredible and we had a ball. Myself and my great friend Capt. Clay Shidler fished the ladies team of 3 anglers on each boat out of the Plantation on Crystal River. Grouper was the main feature for today's trip and we fished the 12ft range off Crystal River. We anchored up on a low profile rock and the bite was on. Six beautiful grouper came on board using a combination of thread fin herring and live pin fish. A mix of mangrove snapper and grunts also kept us busy, before we ran inshore to hit the tide for the red fish. Back inside, the red fish action was terrific and today was just one of those very memorable days to be on the water. Thank you all for the outstanding time and I look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Reds...

Not the day to go offshore grouper fishing, so for plan B we tackled the red fish. I had the Platz team on board again in hopes of running offshore, but with the storms the way they were hovering off the coast; we stayed inshore. I took the team jumping point to point and free lining live shrimp, we loaded up on the red fish. Beautiful slot sized reds came on board and even an over slot too. A great 1/2 day Crystal River charter and with a limit of red fish, we beat the storms in to call it a day. Thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next year.. Capt. Dan

A great day at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my good friends Capt. Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt and Jonathan Hamilton fishing the Sheppard party and my team was terrific. The day began targeting red fish and we caught a couple lower slot sized fish and numerous little guys right away. The crowds were bad on all the points from the holiday weekend traffic; so we ran to the rocks for some bend the rod fishing. Great action with live shrimp on Hank Brown jig heads and the variety of species was perfect. We pulled anchor at 12:30 and myself and the team prepared an outstanding shore lunch. Thank you all for the great day and look forward to seeing you next time... Capt. Dan

Stormy Gags...

A little bit of a hiccup with the weather for us today, but we were patient and it cleared out nicely. Today's team of Kurt Sr. & Jr. joined me out of the Plantation on Crystal River for a grouper day. I had to wait the approaching storm out, so we red fished a little bit. As the rain came, we waited under the Salt River bridge and then made our run to 8ft of water. Soon after getting the boat anchored, we chummed up the gags and the guys had four beautiful Crystal River gags on ice. A fun day with a great crew and I thank you both for the excellent time... Shallow Gags...

A great day with the Coleman family to start off September and we found the gags. The wind was up a bit for us today, so I tried some old spots I haven't been to in quite sometime. I anchored on a ledge in 7ft of water and the bite was on. A combination of threadfin herring and live pin fish kept our rods bent and the team caught some beautiful heavy weight gags. Another fantastic day in Crystal River and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inside and Out...

Another fine day off Crystal River with Christy and Andy and the husband and wife team did outstanding. We began the day running to some shallow ledges in the 11ft range and sent down the pin fish. The team caught their limit on just a couple stops and a mix of other species as well while on the rocks. I had a red fish request, so I made the run back inshore and we found a pair of slot sized red fish and some little ones to end our day. I always enjoy our days together and thank you both for the great day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Reds & Gags...

Just about a mirror image to yesterday's Homosassa charter, but we did it again in Crystal River with Dan and Jordan. I picked up the team at the Plantation on Crystal River and we hit the outer keys for the hot red fish bite. The action was just as good as yesterday's, with double digit red fish coming on board. The guys requested some grouper as well, so I ran to some shallow ledges in the 10ft range. We sent down the pin fish and hooked up immediately. Some beautiful gag grouper came on board and they really topped out our day. I thank you both for the fun time and congratulations on a awesome catch... Capt. Dan
