A very fun and special day fishing the Grosselin family and my youngest anglers to date, Tanner and Logan did outstanding. It was a chilly one with yesterday's front passing and my boat was iced over this morning. We allowed it to warm up a bit and left the dock at 9am. I kept it fun for the young guys and fished the river for some mangrove snapper and trout. The family did great with several snapper and three keeper trout to fill out their 1/2 day trip. Nothing makes me more happy than seeing a youngster hooked up to a fish. I had the Behnen family on board today and young 6yr old Nathan, was reeling them in. I worked a couple different ledges and using live shrimp on knocker rigs; we caught a little variety. Grunts, sheepshead, sea bass and grouper filled out our day and everyone did great. The day was beautiful and is sure was good to see the sun out again. I thank you all for the great day and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan
Steve and Stevie joined me today for a father and son 1/2 day trip and we caught some nice trout. We left at 9am and allowed it to warm up a "bit" before we ran down the river. We fished a couple rock out cropping in the river and with just a live shrimp on a jig head, we did well. We caught close to 20 trout, mostly little guys; but a couple keepers too. The father and son team added a couple more nice trout caught on DOA jerk baits before we called it a day. I thank you both as always for a great time and I look forward to seeing you again soon... If you ever think of a classic over cast chilly winter day with some light rain mixed in; well, we had it today. Henry, Helen and Derrick were my guests today and even though the conditions were not all that great, we had a good catch. I primarily fished the same areas as yesterday's trip with similar results. The trout were caught on DOA glow jerk baits and we found the sheepshead on the ledges in about 12ft of water. The weather unfortunately chased us in just after 1pm and we called in a day.
