Crystal River East Wind....

Yes folks, the East wind returned today and it was a 15mph breeze all DAY.... I had the pleasure of having the Worthington family on board and even though the inshore trout bite hasn't been to good, today we did quite well. We basically tucked up against the outer keys and made short drifts with DOA deadly combos and had a great catch of trout. The old stand by, the DOA glow shrimp was by far the top producer for us today. We also picked up a fine Spanish mackerel and Jeff brought in a beautiful red fish to end the day. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next time.... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Reds & Trout...

I had the pleasure of fishing the Calhoun party today at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my great friends Capt. Mark Zorn and Jody Johnson. Jack and Jeff were my guests and today began doing some offshore jigging for trout. We mad a couple drifts and had a few keepers, but "holy mackerel" the lady fish were thick as I've ever seen. Lady fish are fun, but after a couple hundred; it makes it a challenge to get down to the trout. Bourbon colored Lil' Johns and DOA root beer holographic shrimp were the baits for our offshore jigging mix. Around noon, we pulled up to the club island and prepared a fine shore lunch and ended the day spoon feeding a fine red fish to end the day. Thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Day two with Bill on board and he was solo with me for the day and his guests fished with my good friend Capt. Randy Hodges. Both boats fished as a team and we made the run to about 8ft of water and immediately hooked up with trout. On just two drifts, Bill and I had seven keeper trout before the North wind got out of control and chased us inshore. The red fishing was fair, with several fish in the 17" range and one beautiful mid slot fish to cap off the day. I thank you for the fun day, a fun couple of days and we look forward to seeing you all in the future... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout & Reds...

The wind was howling today out of the North with the late cool front, but we hung in there and made the day. I had Bill and Stan on board for the day and even though the whitecaps were popping, we caught some fine trout and a couple red fish for the day. The guys and I used DOA glow jerk baits on the shallow hard bottom area's off the keys for the trout and free lined live shrimp under DOA deadly combo corks for the trout. A windy day and we definitely had to work for them; but we had a great time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Reds...

Well, the trout bite was non existent for us today, but we scrapped out a couple red fish to save the day. I had Joe and Mike on board and the red fish were on right out of the the gate. My team immediately hooked up with a couple lower slot keepers and some shorts to get the day off to a start. The wind was howling out of the South and after we left the red fish; it was just to rough to go offshore to the trout grounds. So, I tried all the inside spots inside Homosassa Bay, but came up empty handed - non even a strike for us. All the other boats did the same with good red fish action, but a slow trout bite. A very fun couple of days with the Scott party and I thank you all for the good time... Capt. Dan

Down South Trout...

A great day out of the Homosassa Fishing Club with the Stribling party and my team knocked out the trout. We made the run south of "Chazz" and drifted the shallow hard bottom areas with DOA glow jerk baits. The bite was excellent and we actually sight fished quite a few of them. By noon the guys had their limit and we spoon fed some small reds and a snook to cap off the day. A beautiful spring day and I thank everyone for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Day Three...

Day three and the final day with the West party out of the Homosassa Fishing Club and it was another good one. Today's crew of Paul, John and Mike were my team and we made the run south to "Chazz" to find some trout. The team and I did great using DOA glow jerk baits over the shallow hard bottom area's catching the trout; before the white caps and wind got the best of us. Around noon, the wind just got to bad and we made our way back North to find a red fish. We caught a nice keeper red and hooked two snook that chewed through the leader before we could bring them boat side. A fantastic couple days of fishing and I thank everyone from the West party for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Little Reds...

It has actually been a while, but yes the weather man was wrong today. The forecast South winds at 10knts were more closer to 15-20 today. I had high hopes of going offshore with my great clients Mishel and Earl, but unfortunately we just couldn't do it. We tried inside for snook hitting all my favorite spots, but came up empty. To put a bend in the rod though, we found some little reds to save the day and it's always great to see our up and coming stock in good shape. I thank you both as always for the fun day and lets hope tomorrow is a little less bumpy... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Windy Reds...

It was a howling out of the West for us today, but we managed some red fish. I had Steve and Stevie on board and we left a bit later to fish the incoming tide. We jumped from point to point and caught a couple, but it was tough for us. I rigged the guys up with live shrimp under a DOA deadly combo corks to land the reds. A fun 1/2 day charter and here's Steve with a hefty Crystal River red fish that was released to fight again... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout...

The bite was on before the front for us today and the trout were happy. I had my great regular clients, Clell and Lee on board and we worked the bars in Crystal Bay and caught some nice trout. We made a couple stops in the morning for a red fish and the guys caught six pretty quick, before the tide dropped out; but all the reds were on the short side. So, for the afternoon, we tackled the trout and also picked up some mackerel as well. An awesome day with lots of action and a great catch to show. I thank you both for the great day and always look forward to our next charter... Capt. Dan
