Crystal River 1/2 day reds....

A great morning 1/2 day charter with Gene and Linda and we caught the last of the out going tide to find some red fish. Lately, the warm gulf waters have made it a bit tough to get live shrimp. However, Blue water tackle, Ed's Tackle and Pete's Pier Marina are doing what they can and they have been working hard in locating live bait for us. On today's trip, we kept it simple and free lined live shrimp in the mullet schools and caught some lower slot red fish to make the day. Once the tide bottomed out,the bite quit and we had a fun couple hours of fishing. Thank you both for the nice morning and here's Gene with a Crystal River red fish... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Windy and Tough....

Not the ideal conditions for tarpon charters the last couple of days, but we hung in there and saved the day. I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my great friends Capt. Mark Zorn, William Toney, Jonathan Hamilton and Jim Farrior and we had the pleasure of fishing the O'Kelly party. Tarpon was on order for Fridays trip, however rain storms and 20 mph winds just wouldn't let us make it happen. We saved the day with some spoon fed reds in the creeks and lost a hefty snook to end the day. Saturday's trip was a great time with some inshore fishing and shore lunch. My team didn't do well on keepers and we encountered mostly short trout, but Capt. Z took the prize with big catch and he did very well. A fine shore lunch with a special grilled red fish addition to the menu and we all thank you for a fun couple of days. Here's Brandt with a salt river red fish caught on a gold spoon... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Reds & Trout...

A perfect 1/2 day charter out of Macrae's in Homosassa with Capts. Mark Zorn and William Toney. We had the pleasure of fishing the Manriki party and his group of friends had an awesome day. All the boats had two anglers each and we all did really great catching some trout and red fish. The red fishing was definitely the hot bite today and the outer keys with mullet activity were the hot spots. Free lined live shrimp pulled in the reds and root beer colored Lil' Johns did great on the trout. A  fun yearly event we always look forward to and we thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inside & Out....

A great day with some great friends! Johnny, Robyn and Vickie joined me out of Pete's Pier Marina for a day of what ever we can catch kind of day, and we had a little variety. We left the marina at 8am and with plenty of tide and we hit the points to find a red fish or two. I put the team on a couple keepers on the lower slot end and had several larger fish all around, but just wouldn't eat. Our next stop was the shallow rocks to pull on a grouper or two and are they ever there. We cast a few plugs and caught some real nice keeper sized gags, a cobia and never left 7ft of water. The floating grass was a bit of a pain, but a clean drag resulted in a grouper. The trout bite for the afternoon was just about non existent for us and only a couple shorts filled out the last of our trip. A fun time and it's always a blast to check on the extremely strong gag grouper population. Here's a fine gag we caught and released to see again come July 1st... Capt. Dan

A fun couple on board today and Bob and Nancy had really good time. I met them at Pete's Pier Marina at 8am and we made our way offshore to jig up some trout. The trout bite was pretty good with some nice keepers, several shorts and numerous sea bass, lady fish, grouper and sharks to keep us busy. Root beer and bourbon colored MirrOlure Lil' Johns were the baits of the day for us. With a great afternoon high tide, we hit the creeks and found a bunch of red fish. They were all running on the short side, but fun all the same. I thank you both for a wonderful time and here's Bob with a Crystal River trout to be proud of... Capt. Dan

Today we were going to give tarpon a try, but with such few numbers of fish right now; we tackled some trout and reds. Chuck and Terry were my guests for the day and we did awesome. The red fish action was great on the outer keys and free lined shrimp, they couldn't resist. With a limit of red fish, we spent the afternoon cork rigging for trout and also jigging the 7ft range. Bourbon and Root beer Lil' Johns were the baits of the day and the guys brought in a fine catch of trout. I thank you both for a fun day and great job on a great catch... Capt. Dan

A really good red fish bite today with Clell, Lee and Roy and these guys had a blast. We loaded up from Pete's Pier Marina around 8:30am and started the day targeting trout. It was too rough to run offshore to where the hot action has been, but we did Ok in Crystal Bay throwing jigs around the bars. The tide was making that magical height around 11:30 to run south and find some reds. The red fish were "happy" for sure and we had a double digit day. Several under slot fish, five nice keepers and an over slot bruiser topped off the day. I thank you all for the outstanding day and I always look forward to seeing you guys on board... Capt. Dan

Day two at the Homosassa Fishing Club with the Sheppard party and Fran, John and John were on board today. We shoved off from the club dock a little after 8am and headed to the 7ft range to jig up some trout. We picked up five keeper trout in the breezy conditions and quite a few grouper around the rocks; before we ran inshore to track down a red fish. The tide was flooding in, so we hit a couple outer keys, free lined some shrimp and landed a couple red fish. Our 1pm shore lunch was great and myself and all the other guides had a fun time with you all. Here's Fran with her red fish of the day... Capt. Dan

Day two of the Goodman party out of the Best Western on Crystal River and the bite was really on today. Capt. Randy Hodges was the second boat and the tide was right for tackling red fish. The red fish either showed up or turned on, but I can tell you this - it was good. Double digit red fish for both boats and free lined live shrimp was the bait of choice. With a limit of red fish, we ran offshore and added some trout, sea bass and flounder to our catch. A great day and it was a pleasure fishing you all the last couple days. Here's the group with an excellent Crystal River catch... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout & Reds....

A fun crew on board today out of the Best Western resort on Crystal River and Bill and Brian joined me for the day. I picked the guys up from the dock at 8am and we made our way south, with a great incoming tide. We hit a couple red fish points to the south, found a keeper and a few under slot ones; before we ran offshore and jigged up some trout. I reached the 8ft depth range and worked the spotty bottom areas with MirrOlure Lil' Johns for our trout. While running home, I spotted a nice triple tail on a crab bouy, but the hooked pulled when I set it " my fault on that one".... A fun time with some great guys and I look forward to fishing with your group tomorrow... Capt. Dan
