Skinny Trout...

After a very, very tough bite yesterday - today was a welcomed catch. Yesterday the fish were definitely locked up and it was surprising, with the SW wind we had. Today though with Steve, Barry and Doug the feed bag was on despite the hared NE wind swap. We drifted the shallow flats with DOA jerk baits and the guys really had some good action. By 11am we had a fine limit of trout and we basically called it a day. I thank you all and great job fellas... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Trout...

What another fun day on the trout with Tony, Todd and Xavier on board. I ran offshore again and the MirrOlure Lil' Johns did their job. The team jigged up a beautiful limit of trout and some real nice fish once again. Root beer was the flavor of the day and we also ran down some triple tail; however they were all on the short side. I thank you all  and I always look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Trout & Trips...

Some more absolutely beautiful weather with Bill and Jim on board and the Sugarmill team did outstanding. We spent the morning hours, leaving from Macaraes on the Homosassa River to some good trout action using MirrOlure Lil John jigs. The first hour was a bit slow, but it soon kicked in to gear and the keepers started coming on board. Some more good quality fish were caught and we finished up our afternoon running down some triple tail. Triple tail are always a bonus and I know you guys are going to enjoy them. Thank you as always and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan

Still Jigging...

Another beautiful day and especially warm for the month of February. Steve, Tom and Bill were my guests from the Villages and they did fantastic. We kept it simple as we jigged our way to a fine catch of trout, as we moved around spot to spot. Lots of undersized fish today kept us busy, but there were enough keepers as well to keep us interested. Root beer has been the flavor lately and great job team... Capt. Dan

Jigging Trout...

Always a fun day with Dave and Danny on board and these gentlemen had a great day. We spent the majority of the day jigging up some trout, with the usual by catch on grouper, sea bass, mackerel, etc... I love this time of year as every cast can be a surprise. We secured a limit of trout an ended the day on the little bit of tide we had to find a red fish to bend the rod. A great day and I thank you both as always... Capt. Dan

Spring Trout...

A beautiful February Spring day with Mike, Bryan and Mike on board and these gentleman had an awesome day. On today's trip, I ran offshore a bit and we jigged our way to some real nice quality trout. Root beer colored Lil' Johns were the flavor of the day and we caught numerous grouper, sea bass and a mackerel as well. I made one more try for sheepshead, but we only caught two as I truly believe, unless we get a cold front - the season is over. A fun day with you all and great catch guys... Capt. Dan

Sight Fished Trout...

Back in the skiff again today and we fished the skinny water sight fishing some trout. I poled the skiff over a long flat and with Lee and David loaded with DOA jerk baits, the guys did fine. We caught some real quality fish, plus a few shorts and the usual lady fish to fill out the day. A beautiful February day and I thank you guys for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Going Skinny...

An absolute blast today with Russell on board and did he ever have fun. I had him solo today so I took my Silver King skiff and we hit the back country. The tide was super low and it was just perfect for tailing red fish. I poled the skiff in just inches of water and we had numerous shots at tailing fish. We just couldn't connect though, as they would come unbuttoned or violently miss the jerk baits. The tide soon turned, so we swapped gears and really did great on the shallow water trout. We kept a couple and for a bonus, Russell caught his first ever snook " and a big one at that". A great day and congratulations... Capt. Dan

Foggy Sheep's...

The fog was thick as peanut butter offshore today, but my team and I was ready to push though it. Well, that's just what we did and Ed and Bill did a fine job on the sheepshead. I moved around in the 20ft range and we caught some beautiful sheepshead, but holy "COW" the grouper were on fire. On a conservative guess, we released over 50 grouper and it was a blast on light tackle. You guys were great and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Sheep's and Trout...

Always a fun time with Ron, Lauren and Jim and these guys had solid day. We began the trip dropping down shrimp on some ledges and did just fine with some good looking sheepshead. They were biting steady and so were the gags, as they kept us busy as well. As the tide came in, we swapped gears and finished up the day catching a few trout. We caught some real quality fish on jerk baits and I thank you guys as always for the fun time... Capt. Dan
