Sodium Tournament..
Hello everyone, it's been pretty tough getting trips in this week and I apologize for the weather we've been having. Today though, I was able to fish the Crystal River Sodium Fishing Gear tournament and had a blast. I don't get to fish by myself very often, but today I did and caught a lot of fish. I had a good day with over 30 keeper trout up to 21" and red fish to 25". I took my Silver King skiff and stayed busy just about all day. The wind was howling and made it challenging, plus the very low tide. I just couldn't find that big 5lb trout, but still fun all the same. Hopefully we'll get them next year and I'll see you all soon... Capt. Dan
The Rainbow...
Well, we got blown off the big pond for today's offshore charter, so for plan B; my friend hunter and I spent the day on the Rainbow River tackling some bass. It's been just about 20 years since I've been on the Rainbow and it sure brought back some good memories. The bass fishing is still great and we totaled around 25 for the day using a combination of top-water plugs and soft plastics. Gin clear water and light line makes it a bit challenging, but that's half the fun. We saw some whoppers in the 10lb range, but our largest to the boat was around 5lbs. A super great time and I can't wait to do it again... Capt. Dan
First Triple tail...
Always a fun time with Clell on board and he was my solo guest today. He and I set off to the sheepshead grounds and did very well. We sent down the shrimp and had plenty of action with grouper, sheepshead and grunts. A nice bonus, was the first keeper triple tail of the year; as I spotted it on a weed patch and it quickly took a shrimp. I thank you Clell and enjoy all the fillets.... Capt. Dan
Crystal River Sheepshead...
A bit to bumpy to make the long run, but favorable enough to reach the inshore sheepshead grounds. Jimmy, Brian and Harley were my guys today and we had a ball "they are a bunch of characters". I jumped around the shallow rock piles and we tackled a couple sheepshead a spot. Live shrimp were the baits and a couple gags greeted us as well. This looks like the last nice day for a couple, but hopefully by next week it will lay back down so we can make it out. Thank you all for the fun day... Capt. Dan
Fast Action....
Scott and Tom sure had an awesome trip today and the fishing was really on. The snapper bite was extremely good and the sheepshead too. Fast action was the theme of the day and we had a really great catch of both species, in no time. A couple bonito were milling around the surface as well, so Tom got to pull on one before we wrapped up the trip. Great job guys and I thank you... Capt. Dan
Crystal River Good Haul...
Back to back awesome weather days and some terrific fishing. The "boys" were on board and Dan, Lauren and Joe sure made me proud. Nonstop action all day with grunts, grouper, snapper and sheepshead filled out our trip. They sure kept me busy and really great job fellas.... Capt. Dan
Awesome Offshore....
Talk about an awesome day, after four days of windy weather. The San's team was on board and Tony, Brendan and Tony the Tree guy hit it out of the park. From start to finish it was game on. We ran offshore a bit and the rods stayed bent. Snapper, grunts, grouper a couple hog fish - it was a blast. You guys had an awesome catch and great job.... Capt. Dan
Hot Sheep's...
Just about a perfect trip as you could wish for! The Lent party was on board today and did they ever do a great job. We ran out to the sheepshead grounds and had some great action. Quality sheepshead kept us busy all morning, as well as several grouper. The guys secured a really nice catch and we called it a great day. I thank you all and terrific job.... Capt. Dan
Offshore Fun....
Another terrific day offshore with Mark and Tono on board and they did fantastic. I pushed on out to 40ft of water again and it was really good. A mixed bag of all the goodies and we stayed busy all day. Some real quality snapper was the big highlight of the day and I thank you both.... Capt. Dan
Offshore Mix...
What a beautiful day to go offshore and on this trip we pushed on out to just about 40 feet of water. Curt, Mark and Josh were my guys and they definitely stayed busy. Lots of action with snapper, grunts, hog fish and sheepsheaed filled out their day. I bet we caught over 20 hog fish, but only two keepers over the new 14" regulation mark. Great job guys and I thank you.... Capt. Dan
