Homosassa Reds...

Not the ideal weather day and "wow", was it ever crowed with all the scallopers in town; but the red fish action was good for us today. On this trip, I had Mike and Michael on board and this father and son team had a good one. The weather kept us from going offshore, so we dodged the storms and tackled the inshore red fish. Free lined live shrimp up against the mangroves did the trick for the reds and we totaled about fifteen for our trip. A great time with you both and I hope to see you next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inshore...

A fun day on the inshore scene with Michelle and Ian and we had a blast. The tide was perfect for red fishing this morning and the bite was good using live shrimp on jig heads. The couple brought in a fine limit and released several others as well. For the afternoon hours we jigged up some trout, sea bass and other odds and ends and the day was a big success. I thank you all for the fun time and I hope to see you soon... Capt. Dan

Settin The Hook...

One of those special days with Ashley, Ann and Jacki on board and we had a blast. Ann owns a fine clothing apparel company called "Settin The Hook" and I always enjoy taking her team of lady anglers out for the day. For today's trip, I took the team offshore Crystal River and we caught some gag and red grouper, plus a couple cobia. We had a couple keeper sized fish and released a pile of, (would have been keepers last year). So, with some good grouper action under our belts, we made our way back in the keys and had some of the best red fishing you could ever hope for. We had doubles on for over 30 minutes and we caught close to 25 red fish. Most of the red fish were lower slot, but Ashley had big fish honors with a fine 26" beauty. A wonderful day and I always look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Reds...

A really good afternoon 1/2 day trip with my great friends Capt. William Toney and Mark Zorn fishing the Manriki party out of Macrae's. We left at 11am to fish the afternoon incoming tide and the bite was really good. The entire group caught their limit of red fish and everyone had a blast. I had Rhonda and Debbie on board and these ladies caught some fine red fish; including Rhonda's big upper slot red. I hope to see you all soon... Capt. Dan

Hot Snook & Red Fish...

Today I finished up a great week long trip with Jim and he had quite the week. From jumping and landing tarpon, casting artificials for red fish and snook, cobia on the fly and bottom bumping for grouper; it was fantastic. The weather hurt us a bit for the tarpon game later in the week, so we hit the back country and really did well. Yesterday and today, we fished the North side of "Chazz" and we boated 18 red fish and 11 snook mainly using DOA glow jerk baits. We kept it simple and I poled the shore lines while he shot gunned cast, the rocky structures. I truly enjoyed the week and I'll see you in Wyoming in a couple weeks... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Variety...

A fantastic day with Jim on board and today, we had the variety show going on. The gulf is hot at 88 degrees but the fishing is still quite good. The day began as we brought a fine tarpon boat side, for the morning hours. Tarpon are always welcomed, but the next surprise, a cobia popped up and we caught it on the fly rod. To keep the variety going, I made a stop on a grouper ledge and Jim tackled a couple gags up to just under the keeper size. As we ended this great day, a nice slot red fish came on board and two hefty snook threw the jerk baits back at us to finish up our trip. An awesome day and thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inshore...

Always a fun day with Joe and Joanne and last trip we tackled the big cobia. For today's trip, we stayed inshore and did well on the trout and red fish. The tide was incoming for the morning hours so we jumped right into red fishing and cut pin fish was the bait of choice. The bait stealers are in full force now, so unless your shrimp is jumbo size; it won't last long. The couple did great on the red fish and released an over slot too. Next up, we jigged the 8ft range and caught some fine trout on a couple of drifts for the out going tide. I tried for a cobia , but all we came up with was some fine gag grouper. A great day with you both and this is my last "regular" charter for a while. Tarpon season is upon us and wish me luck. The next couple of weeks are going to be challenging, but fun all the same.... Homosassa Variety...

We covered the whole spectrum from inshore to offshore with Jason and Mike on board for the day. I picked up the father and some team at Macrae's and we began back in the creeks hooking in to some nice snook, trout and red fish. I put the trolling motor down and we eased along targeting the points with DOA jerk baits. The guys caught a fine inshore slam, plus some for the morning hours. The tide dropped out, and we trekked offshore for more fun and more species. Cobia, grouper and grunts bent the rod for the afternoon and it was an fantastic day. Thank you both so much.... Capt. Crystal River Slam...

A fun catch and release day with Rick on board and we covered some ground. We began the day in Salt River and we caught a nice slam. Snook, trout and red fish were all caught in less than an hour and on glow colored DOA jerk baits. For the rest of the day, we did some running around looking for cobia and triple tail. We did hook into "briefly", a keeper sized cobia, but the hook pulled and the triple tail we saw; were all on the short side. A great time my friend and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

May - Cold Front...

48 degrees this morning as I was hooking up the boat and I'm glad I still had a jacket in my truck. I met Bill and Butch at the Best Western this morning and windy conditions and a big drop in the gulf water temperature were the conditions for the day. The front pretty much locked up the fish, but we gave it our best and we caught a couple trout and red fish. By early afternoon it was blowing close to 20knts, so we called it a day. Always fun fishing with you all and good job for a tough day... Capt. Dan
