Crystal River Trout & Reds...

Some more great inshore trout and red fish action with Steve and Terry on board out of Crystal River. The trout were not quite as happy as they were the last couple of days, but we still did very well on DOA deadly combos; until we started red fishing. The red fish though, were in a really good mood. Live shrimp in the mullet schools produced the reds and I thank you both for another great Crystal River charter... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Slammin'!

Frank and Chuck were my guests today out of Crystal River for this Wednesday and these gentlemen had a fine inshore slam. The trout bite began our day again and in less than an hour, ten fine keeper speckled trout put smiles on the guys faces. As an added bonus, Chuck caught a couple nice snook with one making it into the slot for an extra special dinner treat. The tide was getting right for red fishing just before noon and we boated a handful of slot reds, before we called it a day. A really fun day and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

I'm still inshore fishing while the wind is up, but soon as it lays down; the grouper action should be happily waiting. The bite is quite good on the trout and red fish and my solo Crystal River charter with Pat on board today was great. He and I pretty much did the exact same plan as yesterday's trip, but we did have a bit more water to red fish. We caught a couple nice red fish on free lined live shrimp and ended our day drifting the flats and limiting on trout. Always a fun day with you on board bud and I look forward to next time... Capt. It would have been a good one to fly a kite today, and the wind was a steady 15mph out of the NE. Our first real cold front was upon us today and it sure turned the inshore trout on. The gulf water temperature dropped in to the mid 70's and the Barlow team on board with me, did outstanding. There wasn't a bunch of tide to work with for red fishing, but we picked up a pair of keepers before the water dropped out. Next up though, we made two drifts over some spotty bottom and the trout bite was on. DOA deadly combos were the ticket and the team and I put 20 nice keepers on ice to call it a day. Great job guys and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Slow Grouper...

A very slow grouper bite today and the bite definitely wasn't on for the gags. Lee and Clell were with me for the day and we sure covered some ground. I fished several ledges and scattered rocks for a couple shorts and 3 break offs. We gave it our best and some days, that's how fishing goes. On the way in though, I made a quick stop on a point and Lee caught a nice red fish, before the rain chased us in. I thank you both as always and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Shallow Crystal River Gags...

Finally a good shallow water grouper bite and even though we worked for them, it was good see some quality fish. I had the pleasure of having Dan, Chris and John on board and we jumped around some rocks and the team produced some fine grouper. The grass was just to bad to troll today, so we bottom fished and made it happen. Frozen thread-fin herring was the bait of the day and it actually out produced the live bait. The guys did great turning some fine grouper and we picked up a couple red fish on the way home. I look forward to next time and great job... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Reds...

Always a great time with the Manriki family and once again, David and Terry had a blast. Our original plan was to target grouper and we tried for a couple hours, but it just wasn't happening today. So for plan B, we hit the outer keys on the incoming and did very well on the red fish. The team caught several, kept a few and we called it a day. I thank you both and I look forward to next time... Crystal River Red Fish...

My team and I stayed with the red fish theme today and it was a good choice. The seas and wind were up a bit, plus scattered showers - so we didn't grouper fish today. As an alternative, we stayed inshore and the "Settin the hook" team did great on the red fish. We had an incoming tide basically all day and jumping point to point free lining live shrimp; kept our rods bent with the reds. The ladies had a double digit day and I thank you all so much for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River, Getting Good...

One of those special days out of Crystal River for the Nash family and these guys had a good one. The bite was really on for us and a quick stop inshore on the red fish, got our day going. In five cast, the team brought four nice slot red fish to the boat. Next up, we headed West to 30ft and had a fantastic offshore afternoon. The gags cooperated nicely; as well as the grunts, snapper, mackerel and a bonus hog fish. Quite the day guys and congratulations on the stellar trip... Capt. Dan

Reds,Trout, Gags...

The bite's been off a little bit on the back side of this past full moon and the long outgoing tide all day, makes it challenging as well. However, we still had a fun day with Scott, Frank and Chris on board and caught a nice mix of red fish, trout and grouper. The red fish began the day on the start of the outgoing tide and we caught a nice limit of red fish on live shrimp. Next up, we trolled around a bit and caught a nice gag and some shorts, but the floating grass is still making it cumbersome to troll. It will get better, soon as we get a couple cold fronts coming through the area. To wrap up the trip, we picked up a pair of trout and called it a day. A great day with you all and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
