An afternoon 1/2 day trip with Bryant, Cliff and Logan and we found a couple nice trout. We left the dock at noon and fished the late incoming tide. After yesterdays monsoon, I was glad to find some fish. We had a stiff NW wind to contend with, so we drifted inside the keys to find the trout. Glow DOA jerk baits were the bait of the day and we picked up a few under slot reds to end our trip. A fun time and I thank you all for the great afternoon... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Snook....

A tough one today for big numbers of fish, but my ladies team caught a nice Crystal River slam. Ellie and Ellen were my guests for the day and this was their annual Black Diamond fishing tournament trip. The residents of Black Diamond golf community have a yearly tournament and the members hire guides to fish the tournament. I was lucky to have this ladies team and they did fine. The day was quite breezy and cold which made conditions tough, but I believe they secured the big fish prize with Ellen's monster snook. This one is going to be a tough fish to beat in the big fish category and I hope she wins the prize. A couple trout and small red fish also filled out the day and I can't thank you both enough for the fun time... Capt. Dan

This captains tired.... A windy one on the flats today, but we hung in there and caught some nice fish. I had the Desart party on board and these guys toughed it out. Sheepshead were the original plan, but the rough conditions kept us inshore. The team made several drifts inside the keys working the hard bottom flats and caught some quality keeper trout on DOA glow jerk baits. The full moon tide came rushing in and I made our way south to find some red fish. We got on a good school right away and caught a beautiful over slot fish, but the wind was blowing so hard it was difficult to get positioned right from then on. The guys ended the day with a couple more under slot reds and we did well for the tough conditions. I thank you all for the fun time and hanging in there fighting the wind. Here's Alec with a fine Crystal River red fish... Capt. Dan

Chilly Morning....

Well, I canceled today's charter due to the windy conditions and I knew I couldn't make it offshore. So for a plan B and to stay on top of the fish, my good friend JC invited me for a couple hour morning red fish trip. We loaded up in his Hewes and hit the creeks. Cold and Windy sums up the conditions as we ran the creeks from Martins to Fish Creek. The red fish were there and saw quite a few. We landed a couple using the new MirrOlure Lil' John XL in the golden bream color and one real nice fish just over the slot. By 10:30 we were chilled and still able to see our breath, so we wrapped it up. Still a fun time and found some quality fish. Here's JC with a beautiful back country red fish... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Variety,,,,

A fine day out of Crystal River, but it was definitely a windy one. Aaron and Scott were my guest and with the forecast calling for a windy afternoon, we made our sheepshead run for the first part of the day. I had to stay shallow due to the conditions, but we caught a couple keepers and some shorts to get the day going. The tide turned and began rushing in, so we switched gears and targeted trout. From the shallow rock bars to the spoil islands, the guys caught some real quality trout. To end the trip on the flood tide. I hit made our way back in Ozello and a couple red fish ended our trip. Scott caught a 30' beauty and I thank you both for the great time... Capt. Dan

A beautiful Sunday day out of Crystal River and I had the pleasure of having the Workman boys on board. Kyle and Brady had an excellent trip and caught a nice variety. Sheepshead were biting well on the ledges to start our day and we found some good ones. Trout filled out our afternoon and the guys caught five hefty trout all over 20". Glow DOA cal shad tail jigs on a 1/8th oz chartreuse jig head were the ticket today. To finish up the trip, we hit the Salt River area and caught some under slot reds to end the day. I thank you both for the fun time and look forward to seeing you again. Here's Kyle and Brady with a hefty Crystal River sheepshead... Capt. Dan

Fun in the "Woods"...

Just a fun day today with my good friend Capt. Randy Hodges while my big boats getting detailed and we went back in the "woods". I put the Silver King in the water and with the extremely low tide, headed South. We call the woods the back country of Ozello and it's always a fun time when we get to fish together. As many times as I've been going back there, I always learn something new. It's not easy fishing, but more like hunting and basically sight fishing. We caught some beautiful red fish, a couple nice trout and I even pulled out the fly rod. I hooked a nice red fish of the fly, but unfortunately the hook pulled - exciting all the same. I thank you bud for the great time and here's Randy with a fine Ozello red fish... Capt. Dan

Hard Wind in Homosassa....

It was a blowing today!!!! I had originally had Phil and his son Joe scheduled for a full day trip and with the small craft advisories, I cancelled the trip. However, they're here to fish and I wasn't going to disappoint them. Around 1pm, I said " let's meet at Macrae's, hit the creeks in the Little Homosassa River and give it a try ". It was whitecaps and foamy on the outside, but when we reached the back country, it wasn't to bad. I put the trolling motor down and we covered a bunch of water. MirrOdines, glow DOA jerk baits and assorted jigs put seven nice trout in the box and a couple red fish, with one in the mid slot range. We definitly saved the day and for the tough conditions and we did well. Thank you both for the great time and look forward to our future trips... Capt. Dan

Back Inshore...

Wow, I love this weather. Joe and Joanne were on board with me for the day and they did great. The couple met me at Pete's Pier and we made our way down the river. Tackling some trout was on order and we found them in a couple different areas. From the outer spoil islands and back country bays, the MirrOlure LIl' John's and MirrOdines did their job. We put a fine catch of keeper trout in the boat and I could only find a short red fish to go along with the trout. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I look forward to seeing you both again soon... Crystal River Late Start....

I'm so glad today's charter worked out. Ed and his daughter Emma were my guests today and after they had vehicle trouble this morning, we were able to save the afternoon. We made it off the dock at noon from Pete's Pier Marina and with a pretty good high tide, I made a quick stop to find a couple trout. The trout bite was great on DOA glow jerk baits and Ed caught a nice bonus red fish in the same area. The seas were like glass and our next stop were the sheepshead grounds. I hammered down until we hit the 20ft range and once we sent down our Blue Water Bait and Tackle live shrimp, the sheepshead were in a frenzy. They did great and ended the day with a fine catch. Thank you both for a fun afternoon and enjoy all the fish... Capt. Dan
