Another beautiful day here in Citrus County and Frank and Scott had a nice variety. The day began jigging up some trout along the rock bars with MirrOlure Lil John's and the trout cooperated nicely. We put a fine limit on board and our next target, was running down some triple tail. The triple tail were plentiful, and a simple free lined live shrimp up current from them did the trick. The rest of the day we spent tackling the snook and the team and I went 1 for 4, plus a red fish; to wrap up the day. I thank you both for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Super Slam Thursday...

What a beautiful day with Jen and Josh out of Crystal River and we had a slam. Trout, red fish and snook filled out our day and it's always a treat to catch the big three. The trout bite was good on MirrOlure Lil Johns, while the red fish and snook came on DOA glow holographic jerk baits. We kept a limit of trout and a fine red fish take home to dinner and released all the others to fight another day. I really enjoyed the day with you and I thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Day Two Slam...

Wow!!! Another fantastic trip, and back to back slams. John and Skeeter were on board with me for the day and the guys had a blast. We began the trip with jerk baits and did well on the trout. Not as many big keepers today, but lots of action with shorts; plus a pair of bonus snook. The DOA glow jerk baits once again did their job. I made a run south for the afternoon and the team free lined live shrimp around the points and brought in several fine red fish to wrap up the day. A really fun time and I thank you both very much... Crystal River Slam...

We hit the big three today - snook, trout and red fish with Chris and Scott on board and the guys had an awesome time. We stayed inshore all day and targeted oyster bars, flats, rock bars, points, etc... and did well. I had DOA jerk baits on all day and we covered all the species on one lure. I did eventually, up my leader to 30lb fluorocarbon; as the first snook cut through the leader to start the day. The action was great and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Ozello on Foot...

For all of you that are local, you know what the weather has been and it's been gusty to say the least. I've unfortunately had to cancel almost a weeks worth of charters due to the recent high winds, but it looks like we may have some relief soon. Yesterday, myself and a couple of my good guide friends that have been itching to go out; made a plan and we fished some creeks and canals back in Ozello today. We left the boats on the trailers and we put on our rubber boots and trekked through the weeds. It was a fun time fishing some of the back holes and creeks, even though it was a cold, windy day. I managed a couple snook and a couple trout, all being caught on a baby bass colored DOA jerk bait. A fun time, a good hike and just great seeing the beautiful country right here in Citrus County. I should be back on the big pond soon... Capt. Dan

Without a doubt, the best trolling bite of the year so far and the Barlow team had a beautiful limit of hefty Crystal River gags by 11am. What can I say, some days are more special than others and the grouper action for us today was fantastic. I exclusively trolled some various rocks and ledges in the 15ft to 22ft range and the grouper bite was on. By far the hot head Rapala x-rap 20 was the top producing plug for us and all the fish, but one came on it today. The team caught their limit of gags by 11am, plus a bonus slot sized snook offshore "a very welcomed surprise" and we called it a day. I thank you all for the outstanding trip and look forward to seeing you again in the future... Capt. Dan

A super slam for us today and we were fortunate to land a variety of species. I had the Coleman family on board out of the Plantation on Crystal River and we did well. The inshore bite was good just like yesterday and we caught a variety from red fish, trout, snook and flounder hitting the points with free lined shrimp. The team caught a nice mix of inshore species, but the weather was looking perfect for running offshore; so we headed West. We reached the grouper grounds and the bite was very good. From trolling, to bottom fishing - the bite was great. An excellent day with you both and I thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Saltwater Sportsman...

Today I had the pleasure of working with long time friend Capt. Dave Lear of Saltwater Sportsman and we featured a snook story. Dave was on of the first magazine writers to get me started in guiding and his help/influence has been instrumental for my success. I can't reveal to much, but it will be a great read in the coming months and I know you all will enjoy it. Stay tuned... Capt. Dan

Incredible Day...

Everyday is great on the water, but as many of you know; some days are special. Today I had Cheryl on board and what a day we had. We jumped a beautiful tarpon and fought it for several minutes before it spit the hook. We saw a couple others, but left them to pursue some other species. Next on the list, we found a fine triple tail which was another first for Cheryl. After the triple tail, we were near one of my favorite snook locations, so I suggested giving snook a try. Believe it or not; the plan came together and we landed a beauty of a snook. To top off the day and another first, I hit the Ozello back country and she landed six fine red fish to end our day. A wonderful day and I thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Down South Trout...

A great day out of the Homosassa Fishing Club with the Stribling party and my team knocked out the trout. We made the run south of "Chazz" and drifted the shallow hard bottom areas with DOA glow jerk baits. The bite was excellent and we actually sight fished quite a few of them. By noon the guys had their limit and we spoon fed some small reds and a snook to cap off the day. A beautiful spring day and I thank everyone for the fun time... Capt. Dan
