Crystal River Offshore...

I took a break from the tarpon skiff today and I had the pleasure of having Tim on board and we made our way offshore. Tim's tried several times to go out with me and the weather has always been not in our favor. Today though was fair and we made it happen. I fished the 28ft of water range and we caught a limit of gags, some mangrove snapper and a fine bonus hog fish. Everything was caught bottom fishing and we beat the offshore storm in, just in time. A fine day and I thank you... Capt. Dan

What a nice mix of species today our of Homosassa and Casey and Avery were my guests. I kept it simple today and we headed West to 10ft of water and made some long drifts. The rods were loaded with MirrOlure Lil' Johns and they kept us busy. I really enjoy this type of fishing as it's pretty steady action and every cast is a surprise. I thank you both for a great one and here's Avery with her first trout.... Capt. Dan

Catching Gags...

The Barlow team was with me today and its always a fun day with these guys. Today though, was a bit on the tough side and as tried our luck for red fish for the morning; it just wasn't happening. So, I made the run offshore rock jumping in hopes of cobia and they were tough to come by as well. The grouper bite was quite good and we sure released a bunch of fine gags. I did eventually find a nice group of cobia and we hooked up on two, but unfortunately they came unbuttoned. Sometimes the fish get the best of you, but we still had a fun time and I thank you guys and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

A great time with Jim, Ron and Lauren out of Crystal River today and we had a nice mix for the day. Our trip began jigging a bit offshore and we had the variety show going on. Trout, cobia, grouper, lady fish, etc... kept our rods bent. The trout bite wasn't to hot, but we caught a few. The tide started rolling in and it got right for red fishing. The reds were on and in a couple stops the guys brought in a beautiful limit of red fish. We did end the day on one more drift and added a couple more trout to the catch and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix.....

An absolute awesome day with Scott and Johnny and the father and son team did great. The inshore trout action started our trip and using DOA jerk baits around the bars got our day going. We caught several fine keepers, a bonus flounder and we then headed offshore. The offshore action was fabulous with grouper, grunts, and trigger fish, but the sheepshead were not to happy. However, Scott picked up a fine triple tail and turned some hefty gags on light tackle for an exciting afternoon. A great day guys and I can't wait until next time... Capt. Dan

Grouper and Reds...

The end of the 2016 grouper season with the Novinger family. It looks like the weather is going to keep us off the water for the last two days, but we finished the season strong. I had a fun day with the family as we bottom fished and turned some nice gags with three making the cut, before the wind picked up and chased us inshore. The stiff SW wind and the new moon incoming tide brought in some good water and we red fished the afternoon. The team had a double digit day, reached their limit and called it a day. Thank you all and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Whopper...

Steady grouper action today for Janice and Henry on board and they had their first taste of grouper fishing. I've had the pleasure of having this couple on board several times before and we've always inshore fished. Well, today they caught close to twenty grouper and it was a fun day. The fog was thick and the Rapala's did their job. Janice had big fish honors with a 20lber and they are already to go again next year. Thank you both and I'll see you next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout & Gags...

I had the pleasure of having Shane solo on board and for today's trip, we caught some nice trout and grouper. The trout bite started our day and we caught a bunch, but most were on the short side. We worked as a team and eventually put some nice keepers on ice. For the rest of the day, we cast plugs and had some grouper action. Most were little guys, but we bagged a fine keeper for our efforts. I had a great day with you my man and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Christmas Gags...

A little family fun today for the Christmas vacation down time I took off and my wife and I, went out of Homosassa and caught some nice gags. I was able to do some exploring, and we found a couple nice honey holes. The short gags were especially active today, but we weeded though them and brought in some real nice keepers. Always a fun day with my bride and we'll be having some grouper dinners for ourselves this week... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A nice mix on today's trip with Lee and Clell on board. We made our way down the Crystal River and began jigging up some trout. The trout action was superb and today, glow colored Lil' Johns did the trick. My original plan next was to troll for grouper, but i made a quick stop just to see if the sheepshead are around and biting. Well folks, yes they are; but not super aggressive yet. The team did catch five nice ones and we made our way to catch some grouper. Some big ones got the best of us today, but we turned a nice keeper and several shorts for the afternoon. A great time and I'll look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
