Slow trout, but hot Reds....

Well, the trout bite was on lock down for us today, but the afternoon red fish action was good. I had the pleasure of having the Keeler party on board for the day and we had a fun time inshore. The gusty NE wind was up, so we didn't make it to grouper land. The keeper trout were kind of elusive, but we found a couple; plus several shorts throughout the day. The tide finally started rolling in and we ended our day with some beautiful red fish. A great day with you all and I thank you... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inshore....

The Coleman team was on board with me today and what a great day inshore. Clell and Lee started our day catching some nice trout on DOA glow jerk baits and in just a couple hours, we had a awesome catch of trout. Next up on the incoming tide, we got an early jump for some red fish and did well. Live shrimp in the mullet schools produced some fine red fish and we even added a nice gag grouper on a shallow crack to end the day. I thank you both and I look forward to our next Crystal River charter... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Little Mix...

Always a fun day with the Kennedy party and Mike, Mike and Tim had a nice little variety for the day. Red fish were are first target species of the day and the bite was a slow steady as we moved from point to point. When the tide got right though, we left them biting plus picked up a couple trout. We left the inshore scene just before noon and trolled up a couple nice gags to fill out our afternoon. I really enjoyed the day and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Joe and Joanne joined me today out of Crystal River for some red fish and grouper action. The red fish bite started our day and we did well on one stop using live shrimp. The husband and wife team caught some nice slot fish and next, we were off to grouper land. We fished the 30ft range and had some solid grouper action. Numerous 22" to 23" gags kept us busy, but the big boys were around too and we found them. A beautiful day and I thank you both as always... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Hat Trick...

Well, we finished up Phil's vacation with a fun day and we were fortunate to hit the Homosassa hat trick. Red fish, grouper and trout were our species today and it was a perfect day. The late morning tide and nice weather made the conditions right for targeting the different species. The water offshore was beautiful in the 15ft range and fire tiger was our flavor of the day for the grouper. The trout favored the glow DOA jerk baits and once again, live shrimp for red fish. A wonderful couple of days with you, your family and I sure enjoyed our day today... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

Day one of my yearly trip with Phil and his son Joe on board and we had a ball. The wind was kicking up a bit, so we mainly stayed inshore and tackled some trout and red fish. We fished the keys for the reds and made long drifts over the spotty bottom areas in 3ft of water for the trout. A combination of DOA deadly combos and glow jerk baits worked fantastic for the trout. I did make a quick run for a grouper and Joe brought a fine gag boat-side before the wind chased up back inshore. A fun day and I'll see you guys soon... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

Another perfect October day with Hillary as my guest for the day, and she did outstanding. The groupers started our day and they cooperated nicely. We fished a couple different drop offs and we caught several shorts, plus a pair of fine keepers. With Hillary's two nice keepers, we ran inshore and picked up some quality trout and a red fish to finish off her day. I had a wonderful time with you and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Raised the Bar...

Incredible day with Alyse, Tom and Amanda on board. The family met me at the Plantation on Crystal River and we started the day targeting some grouper. The team did fantastic and brought four nice keeper gags to the boat, with the largest at 17lbs. The grouper bite slowed, so we ran to the outer points and had an awesome red fish bite on free lined live shrimp. While staked out, I saw one of the largest red fish I've ever seen swim by and all I could say was "Oh My Goodness". Well, as luck would have it; I moved to the next point and we got her. Alyse was on the rod and did a beautiful job reeling in this awesome fish. I estimated it to be around 46" and it is by far the largest inshore red fish I've caught on a charter. We took several pictures, revived her and watched her swim away. A truly memorable trip and congratulations to everyone for the excellent day... Capt. Dan

Uncle Day...

A fun day with My Uncle Dick visiting from Maine. He is in a band and is performing this week at the Villages Monday and Friday. We had this Saturday scheduled for quite sometime and it was a good one. We started the day trolling up some grouper on Rapala plugs and put a pair of nice gags on ice. For a change of pace, we staked out on some outer points and had some really good red fish action. We released all the red fish and caught several small snook in the back country on jerk baits to wrap up the day. A fun time man and good luck at the "Gig"... Capt. Dan

Triple Limit...

I was fortunate to hit the "Rock Star Limit" today with the Short family and we hit the big three. Tim and Jeanne had an awesome day out of Crystal River with some fantastic grouper, trout and red fish action. We began the day on the cork rigs targeting trout and did very well. Watermelon red flak MirrOlure Lil' Johns got the trout going and after a great catch of trout, we ran to the rocks for the grouper. The cooler gulf water temperature turned the gags on and fishing just a couple rocks; we had four fine grouper on ice. To top off the day, I made a run south to the keys and the husband and wife team boated a fine pair of slot red fish to finish the big three. An awesome day and I thank you both for the great day...
